Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Cunningham
Cassie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in the beauty industry in 2009 by enrolling at the Aveda Institute. I spent the next decade and half working at a handful of spas then landed a fantastic job at a high-end resort spa. I spent over 10 years there and even managed the esthetics team for 8 of those years. Throughout my career I always toyed with the idea of opening my very own spa, but it just never felt like the right time or the right fit. In August 2023 I made the decision that if in a year’s time I was still feeling the urge to go off on my own, I would follow through. Once August 2024 came, it was clear to me that owning a business was the next part of my path. Through the magic of the universe, I was able to find a fantastic home for my skincare studio, surrounded by like minded individuals in the beauty industry. It’s only 5 minutes from my residence and really allows me to take care of my community on a whole new level.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s a lot of learning curves when opening up your own business. I spent 15 years throwing myself into esthetics and learning as much as possible as an esthetician. Through my job as an esthetics lead, I was able to learn a lot of the behind the scenes knowledge of what is required to run a successful business as well as managing a team of highly skilled estheticians. While that job didn’t teach me everything, it prepared me for a lot. And the road hasn’t been perfectly smooth, but I’ve been confident enough and had the amazing support to help me navigate all the bumps that have come along so far.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business focuses predominantly on corrective skincare with a relaxing twist. My years at a resort spa combined with countless continuing education credits has allowed to completely curate the ideal service menu offering relaxing, yet results-driven facials, acne treatments, chemical peels, microneedling, dermaplaning, brow laminations, and lash lifts. I truly love combining clinical treatments with holistic tools such as massage. I’d like to think my tagline is ‘offering relaxation AND results to the Twin Cities’.
What matters most to you?
Authenticity. I think the more authentic you can be, the more the universe will guide you into the path you should be on. Authenticity allows you to learn and grow, be vulnerable and make mistakes. It allows what’s special about you to shine the most.
