Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciera Wallace.
Hi Ciera, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
In 2014 I started working for an amazing technology company in Minnesota. My mentor Kay W. was the owner, She was an amazing Leader. Kay taught me how to believe in myself more than I was able to before. I watched her run her business, make decisions, face challenges and reach new heights. She challenged me, and my way of thinking. As I look back I’m forever grateful to have learned from a strong and intelligent Leader.
It was then that I inherited an e-commerce website to manage, maintain and improve. By faith, I took this new role, I didn’t know much about how it all worked, so I took the time to learn and I fell so in love with the process and creating. Fast forward to 2019, I was selling my house to an outstanding realtor, Alexis Smith, and I informed her she needed a website to express her brand. I slowly developed her site (Ulrgmn.com). It was then I decided maybe I could do this. I was very, very hesitant at the time. I talked to my spouse, My Father, Mother and Sister. They all had one thing in common reminding me not to doubt myself. So I jumped right into freelance work. I registered my business. I will never forget being on the phone with my Mother and letting her know I wanted to do this but was still hesitant. Until, I was referred to my first client. I was ecstatic! I decided to help busy business owners express their brand because they don’t have time for that stuff. There are other focuses of a company that may require more attention. I’m glad I can be that resource for them. God blessed me with a gift I can share to help those who need it most.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been challenging because I still work a full-time job with my employer. I have to take time after punching the clock into my business. It’s also tough to find funding to help my business grow. For example, I’m working to continue growing my business by creating my website. Still, it is hard to afford so many economic changes since we all are dealing with the economic shift. I make my price very affordable for all of my services.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Planet Neptune LLC was designed with small businesses in mind. Many of my clients are Minnesota based. We specialize in Web design, Web development, SEO, and Content Creation. We are always adding more services to our portfolio as our clients grow. We teach and show our customers how to keep up with their sites and add more content should they desire to. I am proud to be a black-owned and a woman-owned business. I want to create generational wealth for my children, their children, and so on.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I consider myself a spiritual person; I love God and believe in him. I listen to Pastor Steven & Holly Furtick of Elevation Church, Dr. Cindy Trimm, Black Business Matters Blog, I am a Mother of 2 Littles under 2, and listen to Raising Good Humans. It brings so much perspective as a Parent. I’m so grateful for everything in my life.
