Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Allen.
Hi Danielle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I never imagined being a business owner as I was growing up and in my early years in the workforce. I started out in the import/export industry, but slowly found I was drawn to mentoring women and helping them grow in their faith. I moved to Minnesota and attended Bethel Seminary earning a Masters in Theological Studies. From there I worked for a local MN church for 10 years as an Adult Ministry Director overseeing home group leadership, women’s ministry, and our hospitality team on Sunday mornings. I thought this was my dream job but after a while knew it was a next step. I had become a coaching leader and felt called to leave my church job, get certified as a life coach, and open my own Christian life coaching business for women.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I graduated from my coaching program with one goal…to help people. Little did I know that in order to grow my business I would need to niche down and get more specific. My problem? I lacked clarity on those specifics. So I started with what I knew. I invited women from the church I had previously worked at to an open house group coaching workshop so they could get a taste of what coaching was like. From there, I kept experimenting and seeing what worked. It took my years of coaching to get more specific and hone my marketing skills. The journey has been long and winding in figuring out how to actually grow a thriving business, but every step has been worth it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One Foot Coaching was founded on one mission…to help faith-driven women live courageously in every area of life. My clients are christian women in midlife who feel restless or stuck, unsure about their calling or purpose, and are ready to discover who God created them to be so they can take their next faithful step with clarity and courage. I do this through my life mapping process by guiding clients in reflecting on their story, untangling their fear from discernment, and help them recognize God’s voice with greater confidence so they can stop overthinking and move forward in their current season of life. My coaching and speaking helps women reconnect with themselves as they integrate their faith and purpose in midlife and beyond. I offer an Enneagram Discernment session for women to learn more about themselves and cultivate self-awareness, and a life mapping program that walks women through their own story and how God has been working in their lives and where He may be leading them next.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up as an only child outside of Chicago. When I was young, I was more reserved and shy waiting for others to take the lead. I was more of a follower and less of a leader. I was interested in music (I joined the concert band in school), reading, and riding my bike through the neighborhood. Through my dad, I became a sports fan and still cheer for his team (the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears). Eventually, I broke out of my shell and love leading, mentoring, and coaching others.
