Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique “Mr. Neek” Pierre-Toussaint.
Hi Dominique “Mr. Neek,” please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have served as a consultant in Minnesota for the past 15+ years. I am the founder of SOC13TY 101 LLC, a consultant group that provides services in partnership with corporate entities, professional sports teams/athletes, businesses, municipalities, school districts, governmental agencies, community lea ders, and non-profit organizations, to be more socially responsible in their personal or professional development.
I am committed to prioritizing new generation voices through our internship program MN ROOTS, by collaborating with young adult leaders, entrepreneurs, and activists by utilizing their skill sets, and perspectives as consultants. Together, as a team we can work towards creating a socially responsible and impactful landscape. Two community partners engaged in our efforts are DEEP Coalition and Sue McLean & Associates (SMA).
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have had to minimize my skill sets and leadership initiatives to please individuals that are threatened, I may expose their lack of leadership in their current career positions. I am a Haitian-American, who grew up in the projects of Far Rockaway Queens, NY, at the start of the crack epidemic, during that period my friends were experiencing trauma, being placed in the legal system or death. My life expectancy as a black male should have expired by the age of 25 years old, according to many during that time.
You see, to those that may not ever experience my journey as a Haitian-American male, society may take you at face value, but I have to constantly be a chameleon, to build certain relationships with individuals that only know what they know from their personal upbringing. The truth is, it’s not just one problem to focus on, it’s what are all the little things that led to the BIG PROBLEM. Because I really do listen to people with my ears and eyes. I actually do get them and when I get them, in the wise words of the character GHOST from the starz tv series “I GET’ EM!”
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about SOC13TY 101 LLC?

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
I am a cautious person by nature through my childhood upbringing, where I was raised in a Caribbean household (Haitian) in the Urban streets of Queens, NY. I took a risk every time I walked out of my home doors. I never knew what to expect walking the streets of Far Rockaway Queens, NY. As I continued through the three major pillars of American culture, which is the Urban, Suburban and Rural journey I have taken in this thing called LIFE! I have noticed that they’re many “RISKS ” taken by those who fear that word on a daily basis.
I have learned that sometimes, when you get that nervous feeling, or you are uncomfortable about a change, or just maybe an opportunity that is knocking at your door you are scared to answer. Please, just remember every proud moment you may have had in your life, requires you to take some sort of risk, you may have given up your family time, investments, intellectual property, or physical skills to accomplish IT!
