Hidden Gems: Meet Dylan Wirtzfeld of Flat Iron Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Wirtzfeld.

Hi Dylan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from St. Cloud Technical Community College with an associate degree in Sales and Marketing. My first professional job was outside sales with a neighborhood publication company. My role was to cold call businesses to advertise in the companies magazine. This job was not my passion; however, the executive account manager at his job, introduced me to what I fell in love with today.

The Executive Account Manager noticed how passionate I was about health and fitness. He led me to a place he thought I would love, it is where he would go for a shake and tea to pick him up. My journey to health and fitness started at age 6 when I was diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumor. The removal of this tumor required me to build myself up again through therapies (physical and occupational). I learned at a young age the importance of hard work and dedication to meeting goals in health and fitness.

My job interests from my early survival would lead me to a journey in physical fitness and nutrition. I was dissatisfied with the results I was getting in the gym, lacked muscle and lack of work out confidence. Rewind seven years ago my executive account manager introduced me to the owner of St. Cloud Nutrition Club. I immediately loved the atmosphere and how the people made me feel that worked there. Through my experience, I was learning more about nutrition and was feeling amazing nutritionally from the shakes and teas. I quickly became a fan and frequent customer.

I later transitioned to working at St. Cloud Nutrition Club, became a wellness coach and became certified as a personal trainer. I was making shakes and teas part-time during the day around my two other part-time jobs. During this time I was growing my own clients through my center of influence, boot camps, and personal training. I loved working at the Nutrition Club whipping up shakes and teas in a high-energy environment changing customers’ lives daily. Since day one I have always loved the concept of a nutrition club. I knew my niche was in a place like the nutrition club where I could influence a community that was healthy and happy. I wanted people to feel the same way I felt when I became a regular original customer.

Due to my positive experience at the St. Cloud Nutrition Club, I knew I wanted to own my own Nutrition Club. Fast forward, In November 2021 I made a verbal offer to buy and take over Flat Iron Nutrition. The Flat iron is a historic building to St. Cloud and has been known to many as a popular bar and place to grab a great burger and beer after a work day. My dad, grandpa and many of the local older-generation customers remember the Flat Iron. I take great pride in taking the Flat Iron to a new era of a Health Nutrition Shake Shop. On January 10, 2022, I officially took over the Flat Iron Nutrition Club. This was a challenging time with COVID-19 still strong and impacting businesses to close or step out due to a lack of customer base as people were working remotely.

As this was a goal of mine, I kept the faith and relied on my passion of healthy living and jumped in with both feet. Today and going forward I am rebuilding through personal connections and community involvement. The Flat Iron has attracted many great people and I feel blessed thus far. Year two begins on January 10, 2023 and I look forward to meeting and impacting every customer who walks through the Flat Iron’s door in a positive way. It’s been a journey so far excited for year two.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
