Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Buck.
Hi Erica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey in esthetics began in 2011 when I enrolled in the Advanced Esthetician Program at Nova Academy of Cosmetology. I was immediately drawn to the art and science of skincare — the way it blends beauty, wellness, and confidence.
In 2012, I began working at Hair Studio 52 + Spa, where I was able to put my skills into practice while continuing to learn and grow. Around that time, I completed a two-week medical laser course through the National Laser Institute, Scottsdale, AZ, which opened the door to medical esthetics. That experience led me to work alongside Dr. Hagstrom for about a year, performing SkinPen Microneedling and Cellulite Reduction procedures — an incredible opportunity that expanded my understanding of skin health and technology.
During my years at Hair Studio 52, I was fortunate to work with exceptional professional lines like Aveda, Phytomer, and IMAGE Skincare, and to train with their educators. I also enjoyed attending the Dermalogica Institute in Minneapolis for advanced, hands-on education.
In 2016, I took a leap of faith and went solo, renting my first room inside a salon. Then in 2019, I moved into my current space — Studio Sixty Five, where I operate Emerge Spa LLC (Suite 5).
In 2018, I felt called to expand my practice and began training as a Reiki Practitioner, eventually earning my certification as a Master Reiki Practitioner. Today, I incorporate energy work in tandem with skincare services to offer a more holistic approach to wellness. Whether a client visits for a facial or for Reiki energetic healing, my intention remains the same — to provide a space that feels safe, genuine, and relaxing, where their well-being is my utmost priority.
At Emerge Spa, I’m always looking to stay innovative — exploring the latest trends, new modalities, and emerging treatments. It’s fun and exciting to try new things, and I believe it’s important to offer clients options that meet their evolving skincare and wellness needs.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but each challenge has taught me something valuable about perseverance and faith. When I moved into my current space in 2019, it came with a number of hurdles — from navigating state licensing paperwork to setting up new skincare accounts and investing in the equipment needed to bring my vision for the spa to life. It required a lot of faith, enthusiasm, and determination for the future ahead.
Once everything came together, it felt amazing — a true fresh start with a beautiful new space and the excitement of possibility. But like so many others, 2020 brought unexpected challenges. The uncertainty of that time was incredibly difficult, and I had to rely on faith and adaptability to keep moving forward. I focused on staying positive, supporting my clients however I could, as well as gratitude for the support of clients & friends all while trusting that we would all make it through to the other side.
Those experiences strengthened me both personally and professionally, and they reminded me why I started in the first place — to create a healing, safe, and uplifting space for others, even through the toughest times.
