Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Hente.
Hi Erin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After spending my entire career in the financial services industry preparing people for the unexpected, I couldn’t have prepared myself emotionally for what was to come next.
In July 2015, my husband Andy died suddenly in a work accident. I felt lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next. How do you move forward when you’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to turn?
I wanted nothing more than guidance and direction as I began to navigate this new path on my own. I soon realized that I was no longer alone.
The next decision I made changed my life.
I began working with a life coach and gained the tools to uncover what I wanted for my life after loss and most importantly the next steps I would take to get there. I had become so consumed by the weight of the world around me that I forgot to focus on the most important thing… ME.
Step by step, I discovered that my journey hadn’t ended when my husband passed. It had only just begun.
In 2019, I started coaching women healing from loss and realized that the process I used for my own life helped them uncover what they wanted as well. I now have the privilege of so many amazing women with in my Becoming You Membership Community who are discovering that their life didn’t end when their loved one passed…it had only just begun.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned along my journey, it’s that the experiences we go through aren’t wasted on us. We can use them in the most unexpected ways no matter how painful they may be.
Where do I start in terms of ‘struggles?’
In 2014, my father-in-law passed suddenly and then 7 months later, my husband, Andy, died suddenly in a work accident. I resigned from my corporate career in 2017, because it became increasingly difficult to navigate solo parenting. As a family, we simultaneously opened and closed two franchise businesses within a year realizing very quickly that wasn’t my path foward and immediately after making that decision, I had the privilege of joining the Board of Directors over at Brighter Days Family Grief Center to help connect grieving families to resources as well as became a leader for Widow MIght who connect widowed women around the Twin Cities.
All of those things led to the opening of my coaching business in 2019. My oldest sibling, Amy, was my biggest supporter and helped me get my website and marketing kicked off in early 2020. Unfortunately, on Memorial Day of 2020, my sister and 16-year-old niece died suddenly in an automobile accident after an amazing weekend up North.
I had to ask myself…”Am I still doing what I’m supposed to be doing?” I heard a resounding “YES!” It was the process I’ve personally used and the work I was continuing to do with my coaching clients that allowed me to continue the work I was doing and showing up in the world.
I have no idea why we have to go through the things we do in life, but what I do know is that they lead us to exactly where we are supposed to be.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Erin Hente Coaching?
I personally help women healing from loss design a life they can love after loss through my Becoming You Membership Program. I do this through personal coaching in a group setting using a process that will allow them to rediscover who they are and what they want in the aftermath of loss.
Oftentimes, widowed women come to me in their early stages of grief feeling lost, overwhelmed and unsure what to do next so in February 2022, I launched the Now What? Navigating Life After Loss Podcast (www.erinhente.com/podcast) found on Apple or Spotify. I provide practical ways to support these women on their journey and have special guests including my own kiddows to help parents supporting children that are grieving the loss of their loved one.
I’m most proud of how much of ME has shown up in this brand. My sister truly helped me capture the essence of who I am and allow me to help others by showing up in the most authentic way that I can.
What I’d love readers is that… If you are someone healing from the loss of a loved one, “You are not alone.” My purpose is threefold…to get women connected to resources, life, and each other and I do that in a number of ways. If you’re curious how I can help you please go to www.erinhente.com.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is the only way I can truly fail is if I give up. I definitely have NOT given up, because as long as I keep showing up in the world and doing what I was created to do then I will always succeed.
