Hidden Gems: Meet Evan Mitchell of MnSota Transportation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Mitchell

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello, my name is Evan Mitchell, I am the Founder & CEO of MnSota Transportation. I have been in the private transportation business for seven years. I attended college in southern Minnesota for Law Enforcement. That is where my desire to keep people safe started. This led me to work full-time at the University of St. Thomas in the Public Safety Department. While working for St. Thomas I was looking for a side job and discovered chauffeuring. After four years of driving for a large limo garage, I decided it was time to go out on my own. Throughout that time I was able to find a passion for connecting with my clients and knowing that I can get them to their destination safely, no matter the occasion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every trip we provide is a smooth ride for the client – even if they don’t know what happened behind the scenes. In the black car industry, we deal with all of the elements Minnesota has to offer, which some could say is like navigating the many challenges of owning a business. Juggling a full-time job while running a company has provided a unique challenge in picking the best possible chauffeurs for our clients since I can’t take every trip. It’s nice to say we’ve finally found a formula for interviewing to find the best chauffeur for MnSota passengers.

I also have to take my time very seriously, and like any entrepreneur, I have to learn how to delegate and trust those around me to help when needed – which is easier said than done. This can often lead to working around the clock and sacrificing time with my family. However, I know it will lead to success in the long run.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our commitment to our clients at MnSota is quite simple – provide personalized, high-quality, service while getting our passengers to their destinations safely. We pride ourselves on being a luxury black car service provider in Minnesota. We’re here to take care of all your transportation needs. All of our chauffeurs go through American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED training. They also are required to complete PAX chauffeur training which incorporates training in advanced driving safety, advanced customer service, chauffeur human trafficking awareness, and prevention.

A lot of people don’t realize they can choose black car transportation for many different types of trips. Most people think that black cars should only be for big events like weddings, parties, etc. but, we also offer services for some of life’s mundane tasks – including everyday travel. Some people book our services to take them from MSP to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester or they’ll even book a black car for a special occasion. Some of our typical rides include airport transportation (so clients don’t have to worry about airport parking or drive time before getting to the airport) and even corporate transportation. We love getting to know our corporate clients and the services they offer as we bring them to sales meetings, strategy planning meetings, and even to the airport.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor can seem like an intimidating task. However, I’ve learned it’s much easier to find a mentor that you have worked with before and have a relationship with them before deciding you want them to be your formal mentor. Creating relationships takes time and it’s good to know how the individual operates and if you’ll get along before asking for a mentorship. It also makes asking that big question a lot easier because they already know you. It’s also important to be yourself, if you have to change for someone, it always comes out eventually.
