Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Goenner.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story starts when I worked at a consignment shop in Minneapolis through high school and college. I worked for a woman entrepreneur in the 80s who started a one-of-a-kind consignment shop and invested all she had into it. This consignment shop is still in operation. I told myself that one day I want to own a retail shop.
In 2015 I was interviewing for a promotion and I was asked, what do you want to do with your life? I couldn’t answer this question. I was determined to figure out the answer. I went back to wanting to own a retail shop. Long story short, I was inspired to start a pregnancy retail shop and spa in rural Minnesota. Mama Gracie’s Pregnancy Shop & Spa was birthed on labor day 2015. It was an entrepreneurial experience that I will never forget. After selling the store in 2018 to an entrepreneur in a larger city, I returned to my career to rebuild a department at a large University.
In 2019 Goenner Consulting, LLC was launched to help small businesses and nonprofits with their start-up. I am a resource to business owners and leaders that I didn’t have in my own one-of-a-kind start-up.
As a thought-partner, I help owners manage the business items they have a difficult time getting to. It has been a lot of marketing and human resource items. In 2022 we helped business owners with the bottom of their TO DO. This year 2023 is the year of the employee and we offer voluntary employee benefits along with consulting on employee performance, benefits, and training.
In 2022, Mama Gracie’s trademark was renewed and the first product, a planner to help mamas with their time was introduced.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Making consulting a full-time career has been a challenge for me but I am starting to see the growth that they say it takes to build a business year by year.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
This Minnesota winter with all the snow has brought back so many childhood memories. I spent so much time outside in the winter doing activities such as skating, sledding, making snow forts, and shoveling.
