Hidden Gems: Meet Jeff Ordal of Cemetery Service Co., LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Ordal.

Hi Jeff, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My Dad served in the US Army from 1955-1957. I wanted to follow in his footsteps and served in the US Air Force from 1987-1991. After the military, I returned to my hometown and went to work at the Golf Course. I met John and Chris Dover through my years at the Golf Course. John and Chris Dover had taken over Cemetery Service Co. from his parents, Murray and Ruth Dover who started the company in 1973. Cemetery Service Co. has been in business for 53 years serving military families and others who wanted to honor their Loved ones with gravesite tributes. I took over from John and Chris in Jan. 2024.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The transition from John and Chris to myself went very smoothly due to their seamless business plan that has been in place for many years. I made a decision prior to taking over that I didn’t want to make any changes to their process and to try to keep it as normal as possible for our existing customers.

We’ve been impressed with Cemetery Service Co., LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are proud to be in our 53rd year as a veteran-owned company, honoring our country’s veterans and their families at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Cemetery Service Company provides grave decorations such as wreaths and floral bouquets at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our wreath and flower placement services at Fort Snelling are very convenient and easy to use. Simply choose a date you would like us to place a tribute, Memorial Day, Christmas, or any other holiday, and a beautiful fresh Minnesota Balsam wreath or floral bouquet will be placed on your loved one’s grave by the day you requested.

We place tributes at Fort Snelling every day of the year, so we can also accommodate special dates, birthdays, or anniversaries.

As well as servicing Fort Snelling National Cemetery, we also provide services to the following Cemeteries for all major holidays:
Acacia, Bloomington, Crystal Lake, Forest Lawn, Gethsemanie, Hillside, Lakewood, Lebanon, Oak Hill, Resurrection, Roselawn, St. Mary’s & Sunset. We would always be willing to expand our delivery service to other cemeteries based on quantities and location.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
As noted previously, I give most credit to the original founders of the Company, Murray and Ruth Dover, as well as their Son John and his wife Chris Dover whom I took over for in 2024.

I also need to give credit to my own family for their support and willingness to help out with the business as needed. My adult children are actively involved in all aspects of the business and are always willing to pitch in when needed. I have been fortunate to be involved in the Lakeville South Highschool Golf program, both Boys and Girls and have utilized their help in our major Holiday deliveries. It is a blessing to have so many of the youth helping with our busiest times.
