Hidden Gems: Meet Jesse Sunsdahl of Willow Tree Acupuncture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Sunsdahl.

Hi Jesse, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had an interest in Asian culture, but it wasn’t until the very first acupuncture needle was inserted into my body that I truly fell in love with Chinese medicine. Wanting to expand my horizons, I started my master’s program in a state as far from MN as I could find. I landed in Honolulu, HI in 2005. The college was a beautiful example of the art of Chinese medicine. Due to a family situation, I returned to MN to complete my program in Roseville in 2010. AAAOM in Roseville, I was taught by brilliant doctors from China. I feel very blessed to have been taught both the art and science of the longest medical system in the world. I started Willow Tree Acupuncture soon after gradation, renting one small room in South St. Cloud with a massage therapist. Year after year, Willow Tree continued to grow thanks to word of mouth and great results. I now have a beautiful and busy practice where we have a second acupuncturist, massage therapist and front desk staff. We are serving our community with care, compassion, and knowledge of our medicine.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My intention was never to be a business owner. When I graduated, there were few opportunities as an acupuncturist so I stumbled my way through the process. Growth was slow, but steadily grew each year.

We’ve been impressed with Willow Tree Acupuncture, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The willow tree in the east symbolizes strength, healing, and beauty. Willow Tree Acupuncture is founded on these three principles. Through the use of Chinese Medicine, the body is strengthened and balanced. We at Willow Tree Acupuncture strive to create a space where one can let go, heal, and be renewed. Offering acupuncture treatments that not only aim to alleviate one’s symptoms, but also to allow one’s spirit a chance to be calm and rejuvenated. Relaxation is so important to feeling your best that we offer many options to achieve just that. Each room plays calming music, heated massage tables with options of heated foot lamps, aromatherapy and lavender eye pillows. Acupuncture isn’t the only modality we offer; we have therapeutic massages, cupping therapy, sound healing with crystal singing bowls, as well as traditional Chinese herbal formulas. Our emphasis is always on helping our patients achieve wellness in a natural and effective manner.

Any big plans?
