Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Meurer.
Hi Joe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started with a conversation between me and one of my friends at Bethel University. We were talking about different businesses in the service industry, throwing ideas back and forth, and eventually we landed on junk removal. Something about it just clicked.
From there, I went all in.
I officially started my LLC on my birthday—May 8th, 2025. I didn’t have fancy equipment or a big setup. I started with what I had. I went to my grandpa’s house and asked if I could borrow his pickup truck. Without hesitation, he said yes.
That truck helped me land my very first jobs through my personal network. But it didn’t take long before the job sizes started to grow. So I went back to my grandpa and asked another question: “Hey, could I use that trailer too?”
The trailer had been sitting for a while and definitely needed some TLC. So that same day, we started fixing it up together. My grandpa was a handyman and had some old garage doors laying around, so we used them to build up the sides and make the trailer more usable.
It wasn’t fancy. It wasn’t clean. But it worked.
I used that trailer every single day for the next four months at the very start of Joe Knows Junk. Job after job, load after load—it got the job done and helped build the foundation of the business.
Fast forward to today, and I now have my own business truck and a 14-foot dump trailer fully set up for junk removal. But none of that happens without those early days—borrowing a truck, fixing up a trailer with my grandpa, and grinding it out with whatever I had.
That’s how Joe Knows Junk started—and that same work ethic is what still drives the business today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has truly been a blessing, but being a business owner—especially as a fresh college graduate—has definitely come with its share of struggles. Along the way, I’ve dealt with equipment breaking, unexpected setbacks, and days where nothing seemed to go according to plan.
That’s when I really learned what being a business owner is all about. Like I always say, it’s not about how hard you get hit—it’s about how many times you can get hit and still get back up.
Some days, something is guaranteed to go wrong. A truck won’t start. A trailer needs repairs. A job takes longer than expected. But you don’t quit—you problem-solve. You adjust. You keep pushing forward.
Every challenge has shaped me, not just as a business owner, but as a person. And those lessons are built into how Joe Knows Junk operates today: show up, adapt, work hard, and never stop moving forward—no matter what the day throws at you.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Joe Knows Junk LLC?
