Hidden Gems: Meet Lara Valente Valente of Dandelion Fiber Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lara Valente Valente.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We (Lara Valente and Tiffany Sather) met working in a Minneapolis restaurant in 2009 and both had our first kids around the same time a few years later. After years of friendship we talked about a shared dream of one day leaving the hustle and bustle of the restaurant world and opening a yarn shop. At the end of the pandemic, we decided that the dream should not be delayed and we started a plan to open Dandelion Fiber Company. Our little shop opened in October of 2023.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a new business is always a little bumpy, with details like finding the perfect location, securing financing, licensing, etc.
We have landed in a great neighborhood and have developed such a wonderful and supportive community

We’ve been impressed with Dandelion Fiber Company, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a local yarn shop that caters to knitters and crocheters. We work hard to carry brands and goods that are unique to our community. We love being a space that knitters and other crafters enjoy spending time in.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I think we define success as being content in both your business life and personal life. If you can attain both of those at the same time, I think you’ve found success.
