Hi Mary, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
PE Biz Services, Inc. was founded in Aug 1986. Originally it was PE Enterprises LLC then growing through the years to PE Biz Services, Inc in 2001.. My sister and I when we were growing up mainly in or teenage year were the accounting department for our fathers Advertising Specialty business. Both of us then went to college for accounting, my sister ended up working for H & R Block, and needed some help in at that time the Quality control department. I was enlisted. I worked for H &R for2 years before branching off and working for a franchise in Cambridge MN. From there I purchased 2 H & R Blocks franchises, in Princeton and Milaca, MN. In 2001 I sold those offices and have continued serving the northern area since.
PE Biz Services, Inc. offers year around services in both accounting/ bookkeeping and tax preparation. We have held our A+ rating with the BBB. It is our aim to service our clients needs to the best of our ability.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life some times is a struggle, with the ups and downs of the economy. I can”t remember the name of the movie, but the grandma in that story said ” Life is like a roller coaster it has it’s ups and it’s downs”. My life has been the same.. My business is the same we had our downs in Covid, and we are currently on and up swing planning on building an office on our property to service the area for many years to come.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Although we are not attorney’s we can advise/ educate our clientele on business structures. Knowing which one fits your business intent is vital. Are you going to be just a Mom & Pop shop, not planning to grow, or have high liabilities. Then a proprietorship would be your cup of tea. If you plan on growing and some day having employees, and you have a higher liability risk, then an S-Corp. would be for you. All businesses have their own quirks that identify them, find and accountant that knows your business and can walk you through the process is vital. Having a tool box with an accountant, banker, insurance rep., lawyer, etc is also a great idea.
