Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Guerton.
Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you! I’m honored to be selected. Through trials and triumphs, I’ve learned that I am an encourager, collaborator, connector, coordinator, developer, and a perpetual student! As an advocate for health and wellness, I encourage a holistic approach; becoming a board-certified wellness coach has provided many opportunities to walk alongside incredible clients who have invited me to partner with them on their wellness journeys.
ShareJoy began as a whisper in 2013 – God was pressing on my heart that I could offer my coaching clients a tangible solution to a problem they were facing: Journals, specifically for keeping track of their wellness visions, values, goals, inspirations, gratitude, and growth opportunities. JoyJournals were eventually born after many more years of prompting by the Holy Spirit. While facilitating a group coaching session in 2017, the brainspiration (a.k.a. a louder whisper from God) crossed my mind to provide individualized keepsake boxes that could store treasures, specifically boxes with contents that bring the owner joy. Think of a child’s toy box, a place full of delight, a tangible place to go when play or happiness is the goal. These boxes uplift, inspire and provide a way to connect with joyful memories immediately. JoyBoxes were imagined through this revelation. At the end of 2019, God got loud and I felt called to bring ‘ShareJoy’ into a bigger space than my imagination. How? When? I was reminded to trust and that this would be a way to point people to the source of joy and provide for community needs. In December of 2019, I created the logo and a ministry was born. January 2020: Not knowing the world was headed toward a global pandemic and shutdown, ShareJoy® became an official business with a desire to support the Lord’s work in the community: Each year, ShareJoy® chooses a local charity to receive a minimum 10% tithe from sales profits, created joyful apparel, stickers & magnets, and joy out of demand and a need to pivot during COVID. Apparel became a way for people to wear their happiness and share it with others in a time of global despair, for we know joy is found in all circumstances, not because of circumstances.
During a pandemic, many wonderful souls to supported #sharejoy by purchasing ShareJoy® merchandise. Thank you. One night, I was lying in bed. I sat straight up at about 10:30 pm with a clear vision of building blocks – the seemingly simple yet powerful concept of putting scripture onto literal toy building blocks to incorporate the Word of God into everyday child’s building play, decor, or gameplay. Enter Joyblocks (Character, Identity, and Focus building blocks). I cannot describe the excitement and fear co-existing in running a business. And I know that, no matter what, I’m blessed beyond measure, regardless of how all this turns out. Because: Joy in all circumstances. Amen!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Learning lessons have been both exciting and frustrating. Sometimes, I’m not very patient and want processes or success to follow a timeline I have imagined. However, learning to wait on God’s perfect timing allows for the inconceivable. (Shoutout to Princess Bride fans!) I’m challenged daily by the desire to please people, the compelling need to become an expert in business matters, the fateful and frantic diabolical treadmill of keeping up on social media trends, and simply shining my light.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
ShareJoy® Mission: At ShareJoy® we recognize opportunity in all circumstances and cultivate a grateful perspective.
Giving Back a minimum of 10% of every purchase is given to a charitable organization. [10% of purchase before taxes! God has placed this on my heart, so it is a daily practice to trust Him to provide!] Join us and share the joy with the community!
Made for YOU: All of our unique and meaningful gifts that inspire and spread joy are made with you, our best customer, in mind. (We also love to see you smile!) We want to serve you in a way that is personal and useful.
Entrepreneur and local focus; thoughtfully curated if outsourced. ShareJoy® products are sourced and created, as much as reasonably possible, from other local small businesses (Rochester, MN, and throughout the midwest United States). Our joy is supporting other small business owners through collaboration and sustainable practices. For example, the JoyBlocks are made from repurposed or remnant wood; they are hand-cut and sanded (family business!) and laser-engraved by a woman-owned small business in Wisconsin.
What does success mean to you?
Whoa. This goes back to the question about ‘has the road been easy. I repeatedly remind myself and receive divine reminders that my decided timing is not always the best timing for others. Additionally, how the world or how I might define success quantitatively in terms of money raised for a non-profit or the number of items sold at a pop-up shop are fine relative measures; however, the absolute measure of success connects back to purpose and values – the ministry. This whole experience is humbling.
