Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Charlton
Hi Shaun , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Charlton’s Academy was founded upon seeing the need for greater focus on youth development also the need to aide youngsters to gain academic excellence, with a greater sense of responsibility to become a more rounded student athletes.
Charlton’s Academy started July 26, 2014, since then we as a program has helped over 18 student-athletes to gain soccer scholarships in USA and Canada.
We recently participated in the Target USA Cup in the Silver U-12 and U-19 category, our U-12 team which consisted of 11 players , made it to the quarterfinals stage and the U-19 finished runner up in the Silver A U-19 finals.
This was our first time entering an international tournament, this was a fitting way to celebrate our 10th year anniversary.
We represented the St Catherine, by creating history being the first team to travel as an academy.
We must give special mention to our main sponsors Precise Services Foundation from Canada and Xtreme Quality Wholesale (Jamaica) for ensuring the team have a life changing experience.
I also must say a huge thank you to Kelli Goodrich and here organizing team, for a professionally organized tournament.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey wasn’t an easy one, as we have been trying over the years to gain cooperate sponsorship to enable us to grow the program. Henceforth, it forces us to depend heavily on our parents (Our Principals), also our staff to find creative solutions to keep the program afloat.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Carimed Group Ltd?
We are a fun base program that uses age appropriate curriculum where the players learn the basic skills of football.
Highly trained qualified coaches will lay the foundation for thw player’s future success.
What set us apart from the rest is, the internal initiatives we have to keep the parents and players interested, as the saying goes, “A happy customer, will always come back”.
The Charlton’s Academy approach to teaching Soccer, is a proven methodology that has been learnt from the Holland( Dutch) which has produced many of the world’s greatest professional players, thats what we as a program aimed to achieve, years to come.
The proverbs states, “The journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step”.
We are most proud of the many student athletes that has made the transition into College ls and Universities since our inception, also players who have been National invitees, Jamaica Premiere League players, this speaks volume of the work we as a group have been doing over the years.
What are your plans for the future?
The plans for the academy, is to be the leading program in our island and Caribbean region, we intend to meet all international standards to be a place of choice.
