Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Carroll
Hi Tammy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my career at an Aveda-Concept Salon here in Rochester, MN. It was a really great experience and I learned a lot from the owner of that salon as well as the other stylists there! After about 7 years there, and soon after having my first daughter, I made the transition to become an Independent Stylist at Cutting Loose Salon. I was once again lucky to find another amazing group of stylists there who I admired and was able to create strong friendships with. After about 12 years there I took over ownership of the salon. We rebranded and relocated, my husband owns a construction company so he was able to do the buildout for me and really brought my vision to life! Our team has continued to grow and I feel so incredibly lucky to be working along side the stylists that I do!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had a lot of doubts in myself as a leader when I first started. The previous salon owner was the best and we all loved her so much so I had really big shoes to fill! In the beginning anytime I felt a change needed to be made I’d really overthink it! I’d question what would other people think? Would they be upset? What if they don’t like it? Over time I have started to grow more confident in my decisions. I definitely still tend to overthink things but I trust my instincts more now than I used to!

We provide exceptional hair cutting & coloring services and are known for our Minimalistic-style decor and clean space. Many of our stylists are Independent Contractors which means we essentially have multiple businesses being run within one physical building. We have an incredible team of stylists each with their own unique skill set. We embrace each other’s differences and aren’t looking to make anyone fit into a certain mold. Service options and prices vary by stylist and can be found on our website. We are open by appointment only.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I feel like it definitely shifted my focus and where my priorities lie between my personal and professional life.
