Hidden Gems: Meet Thea Velic of Thea Velic, Realtor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thea Velic.

Hi Thea, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My family immigrated to Minnesota in 1998. I grew up in Rochester, eventually went to college at UMD in Duluth, and landed a marketing job after graduation in the twin cities. While I loved my job, and everything I did I just didn’t feel fulfilled. I didn’t have a whole lot of interaction with people, and I didn’t feel like I was making a difference. My dad asked if I had ever thought about Real Estate (I hadn’t), but it prompted me to start looking into it. I reached out to friends I knew were in the industry, and decided to take the leap in 2018! I have since helped over 100 clients buy & sell homes, and I couldn’t be happier in this industry. It’s been life changing, and I’ve gotten to connect (& reconnect) with so many wonderful people. I’ve made friends with clients as well as friends in the industry. It is by far the most hardest job, but equally the most fulfilling!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m the first in my family to tackle self employment, start a business and dive into the Real Estate Industry. I had no one close to me that was in it or someone to lean on if I failed. I HAD to succeed as there was not a back up plan. With that absolutely comes self doubt and wondering if you’ll “make it”. It’s been a learning experience along the way understanding how to run a business, prospect for business, and successfully give your clients the best experience along the way. You wear a LOT of hats and it can be hard to balance/draw the line between your business and your personal life. It’s very easy to bring work home when you’re working 24/7. I’m still learning how to create boundaries and live a fulfilled life & run a business at the same time!

We’ve been impressed with Thea Velic, Realtor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a full time Real Estate Agent in the West Metro of the Twin Cities. I would say I specialize in helping move-up sellers coordinate their first time juggling both a purchase & the sale of a property, and helping first time buyers get their foot into the door of home ownership! My whole goal is to go above & beyond the typical real estate experience. It is absolutely not lost on me that I am helping my clients buy or sell one of their biggest investments in their lives, and be a part of such a HUGE and personal experience for them. It means the world to be entrusted with something so special!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid has taught me a TON. Most importantly I think it has shaped and changed a lot of our lives. It has changed what my clients look for in homes. It has changed how we interact daily with each other, and others in our industry. I think the silver lining of Covid is that it has found a way to bring people together that maybe never would have been previously due to the normalization of Zoom calls/video conferencing. I’ve been able to network with agents all over the country, and even video call with clients moving here from other states that normally would have been phone calls or trips.
