Hidden Gems: Meet Yelty Koe of Le Meridian Acupuncture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yelty Koe.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Yelty’s passion for acupuncture and Oriental medicine germinated as she experienced the great healing potential of these holistic modalities herself.

Yelty decided to devote her career to inspire others by promoting healing through her education, intensive training, and her own experience of battling with a 16-year health crisis. Yelty sought various treatments ranging from well-established, conventional medicine to holistic medicine. She was told by many providers that her diagnosis was idiopathic and she had to live with it for the rest of her life.

Taking ownership of her health, she continued her quest. She discovered a naturalistic, holistic, and powerful healing journey through acupuncture and Oriental medicine, which has allowed her to untangle her problems one layer at a time. Over the next few years, her body was restored to a healthy state.

Yelty spent four and a half years of training in an Oriental Medicine & Acupuncture School in Minnesota with Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization. Additionally, she received training and certifications from several internationally renowned Oriental medicine doctors to deepen her practice.

Yelty enjoys practicing both TCM internal medicine and musculoskeletal dysfunction. She offers care for acute and chronic pain symptoms resulting from aging, repetitive tasks, trauma/injuries, improper posture, overexercise, muscle overuse, sedentary lifestyle, and post-surgical recovery.

As a holistic practitioner, Yelty has successfully treated a wide variety of cases, most notably:

TCM internal medicine: hot flashes, perimenopause syndrome, pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS), seasonal/food/pets allergy, concussion injury, eustachian tube blockage, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), urinary tract infection (UTI), Overactive Bladder (OAB), testicular pain, chronic sinusitis, foggy head, stage-3 tuberculosis, cold/flu with fever and sore throat, and side effects from medications.

Musculoskeletal (external medicine): numerous chronic and intractable frozen shoulder, joint pain and limited range of motion, TMJ, sciatica nerve pain, neck pain and stiffness, elbow/arm disorder due to overuse of racket sports, plantar fasciitis, posterior tibialis tendonitis, hammered toe, intractible knee pain after cortisone shots, post-surgical pain, scar tissue induced pain and limited mobility, classic low back pain, chronic neck/shoulder pain, snapping hip syndrome after hip replacement surgery, painful and swollen ankle due to injury, runner’s leg syndrome and tightness, chronic painful wrist, scoliosis, winged scapula and more…

Prior to practicing acupuncture, Yelty was a computer scientist. Her past experience prepared her for a rather unique, intuitive, logical, and analytical approach to her practice. The 3,000-year-old acupuncture and oriental medicine healing modality opened up her eyes to a natural and holistic way of living and healing through zang-fu foundational theory, meridian system, and yin/yang balancing in the human body. The body energy network systems are not too different from the binary computing network system. She observed that everything in life is interconnected; some concepts can be translated, and some are interchangeable in context.

Yelty is a traveler and outdoor enthusiast. Her love and curiosity for nature, wildlife, and cultural diversity led to her interest in the interconnectedness of life. She is a certified Qi Gong meditation and mindfulness practitioner and also an advanced T’ai Chi practitioner, following the lineage of a renowned T’ai Chi master & Oriental medicine physician, Master Cheng Man-Ch’ing. She is a seasoned yoga practitioner and grew up as a ballet dancer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not always been smooth. There are various challenges along the way. Many people are not familiar with what Acupuncture is and how herbal and Oriental Medicine can benefit their health, active, and/or aging lifestyles.

Most people are more familiar with physical therapy, chiropractic care, and other bodywork when dealing with muscle/joint pains. Very few are aware of acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, and tuina bodywork to treat musculoskeletal health conditions.

Some people think that acupuncture only treats muscle pain through their experience with “dry needling”, but in reality, oriental medicine is a full suite of medicinal care for both internal medicine practice, as well as musculoskeletal health.

Acupuncture and oriental medicine have been around for over 3000 years, serving as the medical practice in the East before Western medicine was introduced to the area. It can treat respiratory problems such as cold/flu, fever, scratchy/hoarse throat, foggy mind, cough, and tuberculosis, among others. It can also treat urinary tract conditions such as UTI (Urinary Tract Infection), OAB (Overactive Bladder) in the elderly. It can treat allergic reactions to allergens such as food, pharmaceutical drugs, pets, dust mites, or seasonal allergies. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are very effective in treating women’s health conditions, including hot flashes, perimenopausal syndrome, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS), naturally and effectively.

In my practice, I don’t do a “poke-and-go” acupuncture service. While treating musculoskeletal conditions, I spent my entire session with my clients to ensure the optimal benefits and results for them. While this method has been very effective and patients reach recovery more quickly, the health care system (insurers) is not yet designed to compensate for my approach.

For an internal medicine condition, we incorporate herbal and dietary consultation, supplements, supportive lifestyle, and promote healthy habits as part of the comprehensive medical care. This way, patients can expedite their healing process through a well-rounded approach, as well as develop self-care responsibilities and awareness.

Educating the community about what acupuncture and oriental medicine really are is a big part of our practice, and promoting this awareness to the community from a Western medicine mindset is not always easy.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Le Meridian Acupuncture?
Le Meridian Acupuncture Clinic (LMAC) is located in Edina, MN. We were voted the best acupuncture clinic of Edina in 2024 and 2025. It is currently a sole practitioner clinic, as it allows us to provide more hands-on and patient-oriented care for our clients.

In LMAC, we see patients from all walks of life and treat many different conditions. We are known for our holistic approach to both internal health and musculoskeletal (external) conditions. We diagnose and treat the root cause rather than just managing symptoms by analyzing your body as an integrated system rather than as a separate entity through our unique training and knowledge in Oriental Medicine (OM) from notable physicians around the world.

At our clinic, we treated many chronic and intractable musculoskeletal conditions effectively within a short amount of visitation time as compared to the average patient’s visitation time in other clinics (months as compared to years, weeks as compared to months). Each treatment session will bring them a step forward. We don’t ask patients to come back indefinitely to seek results. Each session will provide a significant outcome of shedding layers in their journey. This is what sets us apart from other clinics. At our clinic, we focus on resolving mysterious cases that cannot be solved at other places; we do our best to help our patients thrive.

Our patients are pleasantly surprised that we can interpret lab data results and imaging. Our patient care philosophy is rooted in the “ancient wisdom, modern medicine” concept. We utilize the new advancement of medical knowledge about the human body, but approach the treatment based on the classical ancient wisdom. Oriental Medicine and Western Medicine do not need to be in their own silo, and we acknowledge the advantages in both.

We pride ourselves on being a clinic similar to a general medicine clinic. We treat patients internally, externally, physically, and emotionally. We also partner with other trusted providers, such as chiropractors and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care for our patients and ensure a speedy recovery.

What matters most to you?
In our clinic, we prioritize patient care and personalized care.

Patient care is the reason Le Meridican Acupuncture was established. Our mission is to provide health care that is unique to everyone, focusing on allowing our patients to see hope by walking alongside them to take one big or small step each time they visit our clinic. We honor our patients’ body constitution, pace, and needs for healing. Our clinic has provided our patients ample time and space to connect, ensuring their concerns are consulted, heard, analyzed, and cared for, rather than rushing them out the door quickly.

I am wearing two hats: an acupuncturist and a business person. They are not mutually exclusive in providing the best care for my patients.

To provide the best care for my patients, I need to continue expanding my knowledge, receiving training from renowned doctors from around the world, and learned to be effective with my treatments. Most people don’t realize the significant amount of time I spend outside clinical care to yield such results.

As a business person, I want to ensure my clinic is financially stable while still providing excellent and personalized care.

To strike a balance between the two, we limit ourselves to no more than three patients every two hours and rely on word of mouth and referrals from our health partners. 90% of our patients learned about us from a trusted connection they know.
