Today we’d like to introduce you to Aurora Montgomery
Hi Aurora, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I learned about the benefits of dog training first hand when I adopted my first dog as an adult. He was difficult to walk and manage, and would bark at everything you can imagine. I was determined to do everything possible to be able to keep him, so I hired a dog trainer. With professional guidance I saw what a huge difference it made in my dog’s confidence, as well as in my relationship with my dog. When our lessons ended I wanted to learn as much as possible to continue his training, and help other people with their dogs as well. I volunteered at rescues throughout college, and 10 years ago started my dream career of training dogs professionally. Every day I am so grateful that I get to work with people and their dogs and help them reach their goals from puppy training to severe behavioral problems.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I moved my business from Las Vegas to The Twin Cities. Rebuilding in the first few months has been the biggest obstacle so far. Other than that I’ve loved the change and all of the new people and pups I get to meet!

The City Canine provides dog training customized to the owners specific goals and lifestyle. Do you want to take your dog everywhere with you? Do you want your dog to be more calm at home and around guests? We can help with all of it.
We offer in home private lessons for those who want a more hands on approach. In these lessons we teach people how to meet their training goals with their dogs in the home and neighborhood where the unwanted behaviors are happening.
We also offer board and trains for people who want to fast track their training and have their dog professionally trained multiple times throughout the day.
Although we cover a wide spectrum of training from puppies to advanced obedience, we specialize in behavior modification. We help people get their dogs with dog or human aggression and reactivity to a place that is more manageable and enjoyable for both the dog and the owner.
