Today we’d like to introduce you to Betty Trull.
Hi Betty, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Basketball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of being outside with a ball in my hands, trying to dribble between cones or shoot on a hoop that was way too tall for me. My dad saw how much I loved the game early on—and he did everything he could to nurture that. He even built me a court in our backyard so I could practice anytime I wanted. That court became my favorite place in the world.
Growing up, some of my best memories are of heading to the park with my dad and my brother. My dad would teach us new moves, challenge us in one-on-one games, and talk to us about effort, toughness, and playing the right way. Those were the moments that really shaped me—not just as a player, but as a person. That love, that time, that intentionality—it built something in me that’s still with me today.
That same passion followed me into college, where I played at North Central University—and where I met Griffin, on the basketball court. We bonded instantly over our shared love for the game. What started as a friendship built around competition and conversations about basketball turned into something deeper. Now we’re partners in life and in business, running Basketball Enterprise together.
Through Basketball Enterprise, we’ve been able to train athletes of all levels—from youth to Division I players to pros. But it’s never just about the skill work for us. Our faith is at the core of what we do. We pray with our athletes, we encourage them in their walk with God, and we try to remind them that they’re more than just basketball players—they’re deeply loved, they’re chosen, and they have a purpose.
Basketball gave so much to me: joy, discipline, a future, and even my relationship with Griffin. Now, we get to give back through the game, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like anything worth building, there have been plenty of challenges along the way—personally, professionally, and spiritually.
When we first started Basketball Enterprise, there were moments where we questioned everything—if people would trust us, if we’d stand out in a saturated space, if we could actually make a living doing what we love. There were slow seasons, canceled sessions, and times where we were grinding in empty gyms wondering if it would all pay off. On top of that, trying to build a business while navigating life, relationships, and our own growth wasn’t always easy.
As a woman in this space, I also had to fight through a lot of doubt—both from others and sometimes internally. I had to prove to myself that I belonged, that I was capable of leading, training high-level athletes, and building something with real impact. That’s where my faith became everything. It grounded me in moments where things felt uncertain. I held onto the truth that God wouldn’t put a passion in me without a purpose for it.
Griffin and I have leaned on each other through it all, which has been such a blessing. We’ve learned to trust God with the process, celebrate small wins, and stay focused on why we started: to use the game we love to pour into others, both on and off the court.
The road hasn’t been perfect—but every challenge has refined us, stretched our faith, and deepened our purpose. And looking back, I’m grateful for every bump, because it’s made the journey that much more meaningful.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Basketball Enterprise ?
Basketball Enterprise is more than just a training company—it’s a movement rooted in passion, purpose, and people. We specialize in high-level basketball skill development for athletes at every stage of their journey: from youth players just learning the game, to high schoolers chasing college dreams, to Division I athletes and pros looking to sharpen their craft. We focus on detail, intensity, and pushing our athletes to become the best versions of themselves—both on and off the court.
What sets us apart is the way we lead with love and intention. We don’t just run drills—we build relationships. Every session is designed to challenge our athletes physically while also encouraging them mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We’re known for our ability to connect with players, meet them where they are, and elevate not just their game, but their confidence and character.
Faith is the foundation of everything we do. At Basketball Enterprise, we pray with our athletes, speak life over them, and remind them that their identity isn’t in their performance—it’s in who God says they are. That piece is what we’re most proud of brand-wise: we’ve created a space where the work is real, the energy is high, and the presence of God is felt.
We also run camps, clinics, and community events—whether it’s a high-intensity skills session or a Bible study for young girls pursuing purpose. We want to build up the whole athlete and impact the communities we’re part of. For us, it’s always been about more than basketball—it’s about legacy, leadership, and using the game as a tool to inspire.
At the end of the day, we want readers to know that Basketball Enterprise is a place where athletes are seen, valued, and pushed—with love, faith, and fire. We train with excellence, we lead with purpose, and we believe in every single player who walks through our doors.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Plymouth is the sense of community and how it balances suburban peace with easy access to the energy of Minneapolis. It’s the kind of place where people are friendly, supportive, and genuinely invested in their neighbors. From local events to the parks and recreation, it’s clear that Plymouth cares about its residents and their well-being. For us, it’s been the perfect place to build Basketball Enterprise, with so much support from the community and a vibrant mix of families, young athletes, and professionals.
As for what I like least, I’d say the long winters can be a bit challenging. While the snowy landscapes are beautiful, they can make getting around tough, especially when you’re trying to get to practices and events during those cold months! But honestly, it’s just part of the charm—people here make the most of it with outdoor activities, and there’s always a sense of resilience. We’ve learned to embrace it, especially with the support of such a tight-knit community.
