Inspiring Conversations with Cathy Molinett of CM’s Fitness and Dance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cathy Molinett.

Hi Cathy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Cathy Molinett and I am originally from Santiago, Chile in beautiful South America. My fitness journey began in 2002 and my Zumba®️ love flourished in 2011.

After 10 years of working as a fitness instructor and running fitness programs for corporate gyms in the Twin Cities, I realized how powerful my job was. Making a big impact by changing people’s lives every day just by doing what I love.

In 2012, I decided to open my own studio with the desire to bring people together to create a happier community with a positive mindset. I wanted to offer a fun space where people could be themselves, where they could find the love for fitness and dance, and feel the organic energy and happiness that was created in Zumba®️ classes.

Never lose sight. Continue to find your purpose and keep doing what you love because you will always find people that love what you do. We have built the most beautiful, happy, supportive, diverse, multicultural, and fit community.

My dream became our dream which we now call our… HAPPY PLACE

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am human like everyone else. I have up and down days just like everyone else, Then I always remember my biggest satisfaction and probably the reason I have not given up even in the toughest moments with the business is because of the results I have witnessed throughout my career of being in the fitness industry…lifestyle changes for many.

I have seen these changes in weight loss, improvement in overall health, confidence, happiness, positivity, and acceptance but my favorite transformation of all is when I see people starting to LOVE themselves. Seeing them feel good, proud, alive, and free in their bodies and ready to motivate others. This inspires me to keep going. I am blessed to be part of their physical and mental journey’s.

The greatest challenge occurred during the pandemic when everything shut down, it was an immediate threat to the business which was unprecedent. I had to think immediately how to change the whole game. I was learning as I went and there was a lot of trial and error. I had to react fast. With the help of close friends and family we created a CM’s online experience. Which later led to outdoor Zumba in the park, which brought the human connection by dancing together again.

Through my hard work, dedication, and passion we persevered in keeping with the purpose I have in this life. At the end of the pandemic we held a grand opening at the new studio which is even bigger and better.
