Inspiring Conversations with Emily Lewis of Alchemy Ink

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Lewis.

Hi Emily, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
All my life growing up art was always something I enjoyed doing.

As I got older, it continued to be something that brought me happiness and so to be able to do what I enjoy as a career, I feel very fortunate. It’s a surreal feeling that now I get to put my art on people’s skin. I’m very grateful for the trust of my clients and for everyone that I’ve gotten to work with.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think one of the biggest challenges is just finding and maintaining a good physical/mental balance between work and outside life. I believe that it’s a very common issue for a lot of people in this world. It’s something that I need to be better at putting a conscious effort towards.

Burnout is very real regardless of what profession you’re in. Speaking for myself as someone in a creative field, sometimes just taking a step back and allowing time to recharge is beneficial for not only me but my clients as well.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been tattooing for over 6 years now. Roughly two years ago now, I opened up my private studio out of Forest Lake, Alchemy Ink. I love working with my clients and their ideas to create custom pieces.

Black and gray work has my heart but I’m down for the occasional color project as well. As much as I enjoy linework pieces I’ve found myself enjoying portrait work lately – bonus points if it’s of animals. It’s a very satisfying fun challenge.
