Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Barr. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Hour Rose Salon was founded in the charming Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg, and was established in 2017 by Owner and Master Stylist, Erin Barr. Her vision and technique as a hair stylist, after analyzing each individual’s hair, is to take what nature has given you, and elaborate on your qualities, to create your most beautiful, elegant self.
After training at Aveda’s headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, Erin moved to New York City where she trained and worked with some of the city’s top stylists for the past 17 years. With advanced techniques in cutting and coloring, notably balayage, she has created a large following in and around New York City and Brooklyn. Erin also mentors and educates stylists at Hour Rose Salon in continuing to grow and nurture their foundation and passion for hair. And this Fall 2021, Erin is expanding her business to Minneapolis. Hour Rose Salon Minneapolis will open this November in St Louis Park. Erin will be based at the Minneapolis location and already has a great team of stylists lined up!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Moving half way across the country after living in NYC for 17 years with 2 small children during a pandemic definitely had its challenges. But we made the trip fun by stopping in the Poconos, Cleveland, Chicago, and then Eau Claire on our drive. We rented an apartment for a while so we could find a home. It was an exciting and challenging time all at once.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned so much about what it takes to run and grow a successful salon and team. Fortunately, leadership and team building come naturally to me. I’m also very handy which has been a bonus, because things always break or light bulbs need replacing when you own a business. I think when you are truly passionate about what you do, people see that and respond to that in a positive way. Managing people is not always easy, but it’s so important to communicate and lead by example.
