Inspiring Conversations with Hanan Hassan of Kiin Beauty Esthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanan Hassan.

Hi Hanan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey at Sephora as a young makeup artist. I worked with so many great professionals and great talent from different brands and learned my techniques and skills by watching and applying myself.

As the years went by, I built my clientele and became a freelance makeup artist while studying at Metropolitan State University. Though I graduated with a public relations degree, my interest in skincare and beauty services grew more. I applied for an internship at a dermatology clinic as a Social Media Coordinator where I was then offered a role as a Marketing Coordinator.

During my time at the clinic, I’ve learned a lot about skin health and different skin needs from the diverse patient base. I’ve also learned that in my community, there is a lack of education about skin health and SPF use. I realized that clients would benefit from having a spa that provides proper education and services that are tailored to their needs.

Therefore, I decided to go back to school to get my AP Esthetics license. I opened my spa back in February 2023 and it has been growing gradually due to the need and demand that was present. I found my niche and clientele and I have been able to provide treatments for hyperpigmentation specifically education on SPF, melasma, melanoma, and the side effects of bleaching.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Making the sacrifice to leave my 8-5 job, going back to school during the pandemic, and deciding to start a business with little resources and finance were challenging. However, I decided that it was worth the risk, and I plan to continue to grow and push the business forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of Kiin Beauty Esthetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Kiin Beauty Esthetics is the premiere spot for all skin and beauty goals. It specializes in skin treatments and beauty services to give clients the results and pampering they need. Our specialty is treating deeper skin tones and providing proper skin care treatments. Kiin Beauty Esthetics uses result-driven treatments with customized products to achieve protected and healthier-looking skin. Our treatments can be customized to any skin type and skin concern.

We currently provide the following services: Hydrafacial, Face Reality Acne Treatments, Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels, Microneedling, Nanoneedling, brows, waxing, and makeup. What sets us apart from other businesses is that we strive to educate and teach clients how to care for their skin from the sun and the effects of bleaching and lightening the skin.

We would like your readers to know that 80% of skincare is done at home by clients and 20% is done at the spa. Having a consistent skincare routine and applying sunscreen will not only improve the look and feel of your skin but will protect your skin from cancer and sun damage and improve its overall health.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like about Bloomington is that it’s close to Minneapolis and all the surrounding cities. My spa is in a hub that is close to all my clients.

Everyone who comes to my spa always comments on how close and convenient it is to all areas of the metro. The only thing I don’t enjoy is that I’m close to 35W, so there’s always construction, and the main exits are closed for a few days during summer, but at least it’s warm out.

Pricing:

  • Hydrafacial starts at $150
  • Face Reality Acne Treatments start at $90
  • Customized Facials start at $110
  • Dermaplaning: $115
  • Microneedling: $180
  • Nanoneedling: $130
