Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanni Egal.
Hanni, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was involved in a lot of bridal shower committees, and I learned a lot through those experiences. It made me realize I might have a knack for this. I’m skilled at project management, I have a background in media—editing videos, photos, and even producing podcasts—so “Why not?” I love a good challenge, and photobooths are always a hit. Everyone loves a good photobooth. “I should tap into this market.”
I launched Honeybooth-a little play on my name, which means “sweet” in Somali and “happy” in Arabic (although it has other meanings in different cultures, i.e South Korea)). We introduced a high-quality DSLR mirror booth that delivers crisp, clear, and stunning photos. From there, we got the ball rolling. I added Audio Guest Books for guests to leave heartfelt messages. Most recently, we introduced a Video Guest Book, a video version of the audio booth, allowing people to share their thoughts and show their love in such a personal way. I’m really excited about how things have turned out and can’t wait to keep growing the business. I’m also really looking forward to bringing more things to the table that will make events even more memorable.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Initially, I really struggled with figuring out what I wanted to invest in and what people would actually love and use for their events. I wanted to create something that really stood out compared to other photobooth and event companies.
In regards to my struggles, website building and social media management were some significant obstacles I faced. Unfortunately, I have and always will consider myself, a technologically disadvantaged millennial—I’m still on iOS 16. Seriously, when I first started building my site, I was glued to my phone and laptop for a week calling customer service so many times I had the number memorized. I just know they hated to see me coming.
This is a new business, and with each venture come the hurdles that need to be overcome in order to succeed. It’s been an exciting journey, though at times anxiety-inducing and overwhelming, I can definitely say it has been a journey. I’m very grateful for the support of my friends and family, but especially my dad, who has been my rock throughout this process. Whenever I faced tough times, he reminded me to cherish the good days and remember the bad ones, as those challenging days serve as valuable lessons in business and in life. They open your eyes to different perspectives, helping you avoid making the same mistake twice.
This advice allowed me to examine my business from all angles. Every challenge has been a stepping stone, inspiring me to push myself harder and strive for improvement. My Honeybooth journey has allowed me to refine my vision and move forward with confidence, knowing that life is about living and learning. To succeed, it’s important to take a step back, reassess, and come back stronger than ever.

The LED Vogue booth adds that touch of glamour and brings that MET gala vibe to any event. It’s campy, glamorous, fun and definitely a head turner.
I believe what sets us apart is our personalized approach. Every event is unique, so we try to tailor and provide services that perfectly match our client’s vision. Our guest books allow people to share meaningful messages, whether through audio or video. We like to be as involved as possible to ensure a smooth and easy process for our clients: From planning to execution. With our guest books, clients can choose between our custom wooden box designed with a 4×6 slot frame to place a photo of their choice or a stylish pendant necklace that holds the USB drive. Both options come filled with messages from guests, allowing client’s to replay their cute, funny and favorite messages from their nearest and dearest.
I’m proud of bringing quality, thoughtfully crafted services to every event. My commitment is simple: if it’s something I’d want for myself, then it’s something I want to share with my clients. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that we’re helping people create those special moments that they’ll cherish for years to come. If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I am the eldest daughter of six. I grew up in a small town before moving to Minneapolis for school in pursuit of a career in media. Growing up, I was a bit of a curious George—shy around most but funny and vibrant to those who really knew me. As a first-generation immigrant, I faced my share of adversity, but those challenges only fueled my determination to explore and connect with the world. I’ve always viewed life through kaleidoscope glasses, finding beauty and wonder in pretty much everything.
I’m really passionate about mental health and believe in the power of connection, empathy and understanding. As a creative free spirit, I have a specialty for visualizing what I hear, which helps me bring ideas to life in unique ways. In my free time, I enjoy making resin art, partaking in indoor rock climbing, and indulging in the occasional horror flick.
As I’ve gone through life, I’ve learned to see things from different perspectives and appreciate all the experiences that come my way. This journey has shaped me into who I am today, reminding me to find joy in the little things and celebrate what makes each moment special.
