Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Hollingsworth.
Hi Jacob, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jacob L. Hollingsworth, and I’m from St. Louis, MO. and I am 28 years old. I started like most– with a passion for the things I loved. I started writing stories around… 8 years old. I knew I had a passion there, and I didn’t realize how powerful that passion was until I was in high school after majoring in theater. The dance started around the age of 10 and never stopped.
By the age of 16, I started teaching Dance, and I knew I wanted to do something much greater with it than what I was doing at the time. Dancing in my High School’s studios was awesome, but there’s much more out there I wanted to achieve with it. I enjoyed the concept of business and putting ideas together to make an idea a reality with a collective of people, like-minded or not. In comes finance. I came to realize how powerful it was, and the awesome people you meet who work very very hard, and I knew it was something for me that I wanted to be a part of for the rest of my life.
So I went to college at North Central University (NCU) in downtown Minneapolis, MN. and I quickly realized it wasn’t for me. I wanted to do so much. I couldn’t live my life knowing there was so much out there I wanted to do, and so many people I wanted to meet outside of a specified business degree. I didn’t enjoy it, and I struggled. I felt marginalized and like I was only doing it because it was “the right thing to do.” So, I moved back home to Missouri and began to put my plans to paper with a sketchbook, an old desktop computer, sometimes my mom’s laptop, and a library card. I studied, drew, and wrote as much as I could for 2-3 years after leaving NCU.
I planned to move back to Minneapolis and be better than I was when I was in college. And swore to myself that I would only be myself this time around. I came up with “Jacob Hollingsworth Network” after some friends and I banded together to create “Ice Wolves Associations.” A collective of creators, scholars, and idealists from the Midwest who had big dreams, aspirations, and goals. But more importantly, visions for ourselves and our communities.
These guys I met at NCU, and I just kind of reached back out and we all had similar visions. Ultimately, we all went our different ways and I just carried the mantle and put that together with all of my passions and the things I worked so hard on back in Missouri before moving back to Minneapolis. I had mentors and people who helped me along the way to develop a champion’s mindset, and I feel like that mindset is never-ending. There’s always something new to “champion”. I got to a place where I felt I was “ready”, and I just… took off.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ahh, man. Lots of struggles. Every day is a “struggle”, and I don’t think there will ever be a day there isn’t. So… not a smooth road, haha. But that’s what makes life so great, right? Everyone has a journey. We’re all on a journey. It’s the journey that makes it great, not the destination. Journeys and adventures have bumpy roads. Some smooth roads.
Sometimes it’s raining, sometimes it’s sunny, but that’s what makes the weather feel so much better when it’s the type of weather you like. You won’t be able to enjoy the highs if there aren’t any lows. I get told “no.” a lot more often than I’m told “yes” to all of the ideas and things I want to do. But that’s what makes all the “yes’s” so phenomenal. The goal should be to rack up as many “no’s” and failures as possible. That way, you know you’re succeeding. You can only miss the shots in life you don’t take. So keep shooting them. And have fun doing it. Don’t shoot to miss– not what I’m saying at all. If you love something, you’re going to give it your all.
I promise you won’t miss on purpose, but even with all the practice in the world, you’re bound to miss some shots. The thing is to just KEEP. SHOOTING. No matter what. Even when putting together a lot of films I do, for example, there is always something that doesn’t go as planned. Whether I didn’t get the shot I wanted, or I didn’t get to book a venue I wanted because of scheduling, timing, whatever the case may be… I find a way. Find a way to your finish line. You’ll get knocked down, you just have to find a way back up. You’ll miss some shots, but you’ll also make some.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Jacob Hollingsworth Network Corporation (JHN) is a HUGE collective of passions, vision, and the ultimate one-stop networking platform. From Finance, Writing, and Dance — the 3 Pillars of the network at the moment. JHN attacks many avenues. From featuring scholars from the United Kingdom to come on and speak about their adventures and professions in ‘Business, Travel & Agriculture’, to an award-winning screenwriter coming on to speak about how to become a writer yourself.
JHN FINANCE services in securities studies & insurance finance with the JHN Study Program. The program was created to assist Financial Professionals in becoming “Financial Professionals”, and has already helped many professionals succeed. Reviews can be found online on how great the program is. The program is designed like I believe the future of learning should be. A collective of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life coming together for a common goal and learning from each other as opposed to listening to someone speak at them.
The Program offers the studying material, and it allows the participants to think together to come up with probable solutions from complex conversations and perspectives. Which ties into the Financial Social Media Platform on JHN called the “JHN FINANCE Pack.” This is a safe space for these professionals to discuss finance & economics freely to bring forth a collective of expanded conversations in the world of finance & economics. I hope to see the platform “booming” one day where people can’t wait to explore the world of finance together.
JHN DANCE offers individualized dance training in Urban/Hip-Hop at 3 different levels: Beginner, intermediate, and advanced. These lessons are tailored to each specific dancer as opposed to classes where students can oftentimes feel forgotten in a studio full of dancers who are all taking the same class, but no one dancer is at the same level as another. Everyone has their skill sets that need particular attention, and JHN DANCE offers that whether online from the dance studio to your home or in-person in the dance studio. My vision for the company is to see dancers taking front and center stage like the other respective fields (singers, rappers, etc.) Dance is no less of an art form than the others, and should be respected as such. That’s why the program is designed for the ages of ~10-21 to develop professionals to be the best versions of themselves.
JHN PUBLISHING & WRITING Published “JHN EXCLUSIVE: CYRUS” last year (2022). Since then, the novel has gone worldwide and has received numerous offers across television/film and more and has garnered lots of attention. The novel can be purchased ANYWHERE books are sold in digital or paperback format. Alongside Cyrus, there is plenty to gather and read on JHN. Read 1st Editions of JHN Exclusive writings in their raw form, including the FULL 1st Edition of Cyrus. You will notice a huge difference in the Published Novel versus the original edition on JHN.
Along with that, there is plenty to read and have fun with with “JHN EXCLUSIVES” (To be released October 2023). The final combining/merger of the “JHN Writings” and “JHN FILM REVIEWS” portals for an overall more expansive and enjoyable experience. You’ll be able to Rate your favorite films YOURSELF or enjoy JHN Exclusive Reviews of those films and much more. This will be a lot of fun, to say the least. Be on the lookout next fall (2024) for “JHN EXCLUSIVE: APED.” The upcoming JHN EXCLUSIVE Novel.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
I wanna say my favorite childhood memory was just trying new things and being creative with my family. It would be hard to pinpoint just one particular moment. Video games, action figures. Typical city kid things. Sports. I have 3 brothers and a younger sister.
I’m the middle child here, haha. We are all very skilled and talented– and intelligent — I wanna say my younger brother and sister are probably the most talented when it comes to processing information at a rapid pace. Which is the reason my younger brother is so funny, haha. He observes and reports like no other. But we are all very talented and skilled so I wouldn’t say it’s just me of the bunch.
