Inspiring Conversations with Jasmine Combs of Crystal Quartz Cleaning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Combs.

Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t set out to start a business. I just wanted to create stability for my kids, especially as a single mom navigating life with one child on the spectrum. Like many women, I was juggling a lot — motherhood, bills, emotions — and trying to make it all work without losing myself in the process.

Cleaning started out as something I could do that gave me flexibility. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was honest work. I found peace in bringing order to spaces — especially during a time when life felt so uncertain. I took pride in the little details, and the people I cleaned for noticed. Slowly but surely, more opportunities came.

Crystal Quartz Cleaning grew out of those early moments — the ones where I showed up even when I was tired, scared, or unsure. I didn’t have a big plan at first. I just wanted to build something of my own, something that could help me take care of my family and make others feel cared for, too.

Over time, I realized this was bigger than just me. It became a chance to show my kids what’s possible when you stay committed. It’s still evolving, and so am I — but I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. I’d be lying if I said this journey was easy. It’s been full of detours, delays, and days I wasn’t sure I could keep going. I started with almost no money, no investors, and no real safety net. Just faith and the need to figure it out for the sake of my kids.

There were times I had to choose between buying cleaning supplies or paying a bill. I didn’t have a business mentor or a circle of support cheering me on in the beginning. It was just me — learning by doing, Googling everything, and trying to show up like a business owner even when I didn’t feel like one yet.

Competition was tough too. I was entering an industry where people already had established names, big teams, and branded vans — and here I was, showing up in my car, with secondhand supplies and a dream. But what I had was heart. I built trust with clients one job at a time, and that made a difference.

There were moments I wanted to quit — out of exhaustion, discouragement, or just feeling invisible. But every time I thought about stopping, I thought about why I started. That always pulled me back in.

We’ve been impressed with Crystal Quartz Cleaning , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Crystal Quartz Cleaning is more than just a cleaning service — it’s a brand built on intention, care, and community. We specialize in short-term rental turnovers, residential deep cleaning, and commercial janitorial services throughout the Twin Cities area. What we’re really known for, though, is our attention to detail, quick turnaround times, and the trust we build with our clients. We show up, we listen, and we clean with purpose.

What sets us apart isn’t just what we do — it’s how we do it. We clean with pride, not pressure. We don’t just check boxes; we create calm, polished, and refreshed spaces that leave people feeling lighter and more at peace in their environment.

One of the things I’m most proud of brand-wise is our heart. Through our partnership with Thrive Resource Hub, we offer free and reduced cleans to single mothers, because I know firsthand how hard it can be to balance everything without support. It means so much to be able to give back to women who are where I once was — overwhelmed, exhausted, and doing the best they can.

At its core, Crystal Quartz Cleaning is about creating space — not just physically, but emotionally. For our clients to breathe. For our team to grow. And for our community to feel seen and supported.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think about this a lot — and honestly, I don’t know if I’d call it luck. If anything, I’ve had more lessons than luck. There were definitely moments that felt like bad luck — things falling through, people overpromising and underdelivering, or unexpected expenses hitting at the worst times. But those moments shaped me. They made me sharper, more creative, and more grounded in my why.

If I’ve had any “good luck,” it came from people crossing my path at just the right time — a client who referred me without me asking, a friend who reminded me not to give up, or a program that opened a door I didn’t know existed. But even then, I had to be prepared when the moment came. I had to do the work to keep that door open.

I wouldn’t say luck built my business — persistence did. Showing up when I was tired did. Taking risks with no safety net did. And learning to trust myself, even when the odds didn’t seem in my favor, did.

So maybe the luckiest thing is that I never gave up.
