Our Journey to The Journey Inn
We’re Brett and Jenn, and after 25 years of raising three wonderful kids, we felt called to begin a new chapter together. For many years, we dreamed of creating a place where people could find rest, connection, and renewal surrounded by nature.
That dream led us to the Driftless Region of Wisconsin, where we discovered The Journey Inn. From the moment we arrived, we felt the healing energy of this land—the hardwood forests, soaring pines, and the gentle flow of the spring-fed stream. It was as though the property itself welcomed us and invited us to become its stewards.
Today, with our sweet dog Fiona at our side, we are honored to continue the Inn’s legacy as a place of retreat and restoration. Guests can immerse themselves in the soothing rhythms of nature while enjoying restorative amenities like the outdoor barrel sauna, spa services, cozy library, and nourishing farm-to-table breakfasts. Whether walking the trails, gathering around the bonfire, or simply listening to the creek, many have shared that this land has a way of bringing peace and clarity.
Our path has been one of family, love, and long-held dreams—and it has brought us here, to this incredible sanctuary.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Taking on this new adventure meant making big life changes—moving away from family and friends, shifting from city life to the country, learning how to work side by side as both spouses and co-workers, and stepping into the world of owning a business and building a brand. Even learning things like Instagram became part of the journey!
Alongside those challenges, life handed us deep personal loss. Within just five months, I lost both of my parents. As any business owner knows, the work doesn’t pause for grief—you still need to open the doors, welcome your guests, and create an atmosphere of warmth and care, even when your heart is heavy. That has been one of the hardest parts of this journey, but also one of the most meaningful.
Through it all, we’ve discovered strength in each other, support from our guests and community, and the healing energy of this land. Each challenge has shaped us into better hosts, more compassionate people, and more grateful stewards of The Journey Inn.

The Journey Inn is a luxury boutique eco-retreat nestled on 33 acres in Wisconsin’s Driftless Region. Guests are invited to unwind in four luxury rooms at the Inn, each designed for comfort and relaxation, with stays including a five-course, farm-to-table breakfast crafted with fresh, local ingredients.
In addition to the Inn, we offer a spacious two-bedroom, two-bath pet-friendly Cottage—perfect for families, small groups, or those who prefer a more private getaway. The Cottage includes a full kitchen, living room, and all the comforts of home, with easy access to the natural beauty of the property.
Our restorative amenities include a outdoor barrel sauna, spa services, a cozy library, and a gift shop featuring local and sustainable goods.
