I’m Jodi Schlichting, a destination wedding travel specialist with EverAfter Travel. I started my business in 2017 after falling in love with the idea of helping couples combine travel with one of the most meaningful moments in their lives.
Before that, I spent years in client-focused roles where I learned the value of organization, empathy, and clear communication—skills that are now the foundation of how I support the couples I work with.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in growing my business is also one of the most intentional decisions I’ve made: choosing to stay small so I can give each couple the high level of personalized service they deserve.
There’s often pressure to do more—more clients, more weddings, more volume. But I’ve found that what matters most to the couples I work with is having someone they can truly count on. Someone who’s quick to respond when guests have questions, who keeps everything organized behind the scenes, and who brings a sense of calm to a process that can easily feel overwhelming.
By focusing exclusively on destination weddings at all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, I’ve been able to deepen my expertise and offer a much more tailored experience. Staying small allows me to remain closely involved—from helping couples choose the right resort to coordinating room blocks, arranging transfers, and handling guest questions as they come in. I anticipate needs, offer thoughtful guidance, and stay one step ahead so my couples don’t have to stress.
It takes time and intention to deliver this level of service, but it’s worth it. Because for me, success isn’t about booking as many weddings as possible. It’s about building trust, creating a seamless experience, and making sure every couple I work with feels genuinely supported—every step of the way. I help couples plan destination weddings at all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean—taking the stress out of group travel so they can focus on what matters most. From narrowing down resort options to securing a room block and coordinating guest travel, I guide my couples through each step of the process with clear communication and personalized support.
Many couples come to me feeling overwhelmed by all the resort choices, unsure where to start or how to make it all work for their guests. That’s where I come in—not just as a travel advisor, but as a partner who understands what it takes to create a smooth, enjoyable experience for everyone involved. I recommend resorts that align with each couple’s vision, negotiate group rates, manage logistics like airport transfers, and provide essential travel info to guests ahead of time.
One of my favorite parts of the job is seeing everything come together—from the first conversation about their dream location to the moment their guests arrive and the celebration begins. I love knowing that behind the scenes, I’ve helped create a wedding week that’s not only beautiful but seamless.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something people are often surprised to learn is that most of the couples I work with don’t visit the resort before their wedding—and yet, everything comes together beautifully. Planning a wedding sight-unseen can feel like a leap of faith, but that’s where my professional experience really makes a difference.
I’ve personally visited many of the properties I recommend, so I know the venues, the vibe, and the little details that don’t always show up in photos. This combined with having insider knowledge and a professional network is what allows me to match each couple with a resort that truly fits their style, priorities, and guest experience goals. Having someone like me in their corner reassures my couples that they don’t have to figure it all out on their own.
