Inspiring Conversations with Jon Ledeboer of Keller Williams Realty Integrity Edina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Ledeboer.

Hi Jon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Most of my adult life has revolved around coaching high school sports. I coach High School basketball and baseball at Heritage Christian Academy and am in year 18. I got my RE license in 2018, and can recall upon passing the test praying “God, you have 3-5 years to show me what you want me to do with this”. 3 years to the day later I received a message from Jake Luehrs about “a leadership opportunity” inside of Keller Williams.

I had no idea what this meant, but over the next few weeks we had many conversations about leadership and growth, and in October I started the role of Team Leader at Keller Williams in Edina. Turns out God had been preparing me through my passion of coaching sports, to being able to lead a Leadership Team and a real estate brokerage. People skills, vision, coaching, consulting, celebrating and empathizing are all a part of the role. The parralels between coaching sports, and leading a brokerage are numerous, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a servant leader on the court, on the field, and in the office.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never smooth, and if it is we likely aren’t growing. Within the first few months in the role I had to let go our front desk person, hire a new one, only to let go that person a few weeks later. We had a team leave our brokerage because they felt slighted by our awards banquet. In year two we rebuilt our entire leadership team from the ground up and at the same time completed an entire remodel of our office displacing the staff and agents.

All these things taught me how to lead from a distance, how to lean in on finding the right people to be in business with, and to focus on long term growth as opposed to short term comfort. Through leading over 150 people, being authentic was the only thing I could be in order to allow for any type of success. Once I was able to accept I’m not like anyone else and I can’t be “liked” by everyone, that’s when success became attainable.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the Team Leader of the KW Edina Market Center. We are an organization of over 150 real estate agents specializing mostly in residential real estate. The culture of our office is one of collaboration and support, shown most obviously by our “Market Center Cares” where agents donate a portion of their commission in order to help agents in need when they fall on hard times. We have steadily grown over the last 10 years and never gone backwards in production volume. We offer a diverse array of services ranging from commercial workspaces, to multi-family living, to investment properties, and typical buying and selling of real estate.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Being authentic doesn’t guarantee success, but in-authenticity guarantees failure.
