Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Gough
Hi Lee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a coach for over 21 years and helped 1000’s of people lose weight, get fit and live their best lives. Yet like all of us life has its ways of throwing us challenges, testing us to live our best selves.
My big one happened 3 years ago.
I was broken, lonely, and uncertain about the future.
Recently divorced, I was terrified at the thought of spending the next 40 years alone. Where would I live, how would I take care of my kids, what would I even do with my life? I was barely hanging on and a shell of my former self
To make matters worse, I was out of shape, not working out, indulging in unhealthy food and drinks. I did NOT like what I saw in the mirror. I wasn’t smiling or laughing and definitely not enjoying life as it should be.
Then this happened, I was called out by a trainer on Facebook.
“Dude you’re Fat, what the hell happened” ?
I overheard a guy talking about me behind my back.
“Look at the trainer with the Dad Bod”
These are just a couple of comments I was getting and they were soul crushing to me, here I was as Fitness coach helping 100’s of people realize their fitness goals and I couldn’t even take care of myself. It was a frustrating and disheartening experience, feeling unable to help myself while assisting everyone else.
I realized that I needed to draw a line in the sand and make a commitment to myself. I had to prioritize working on me, fixing myself before anything else.
It was time for a change.
Fast forward 3 years, I turned 50 in February and I can’t help but smile at the reflection staring back at me in the mirror and I have my shirt off A LOT.
My fitness journey has been nothing short of remarkable. I shed the excess weight, gained back my strength, and built a level of energy that lasts for days.
But it’s not just about the physical changes. I think the biggest shift has been in my mindset, I’m HAPPY again, laughing and smiling all the time.
I’ve also rediscovered my zest for life. I’m embracing my Rad Dad lifestyle to the fullest, loving every moment spent with my kids, family and friends.
I’m back to pursuing my favorite passions too, Surfing, Windsurfing, MTBing I can’t sit still. The fear of the future has been replaced by excitement and hope.
I’ve learned that putting myself first allows me to be a better coach, parent, friend and individual overall.
It’s not selfish; it’s essential. If you’re in a similar situation, remember that you deserve to prioritize your well-being. Take that step back, assess your own needs, and commit to self-care.
You are worthy of love, care, and attention.
I’m sharing this post not to boast, but to inspire others who may be in a similar situation.
You have the power to rewrite your story. Take that first step, make the commitment to yourself, and believe in your ability to create a better future. The journey won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of Course not!!! The biggest challenge we face is the battle going on between our ears. The perfect day is very rare, the stars don’t align very often. We all know we’ll never “Start tomorrow, next week or after the kids go back to school.
Waiting to be motivated to start will never happen either.
For me personally it was figuring out this new lifestyle while being in the weeds as a divorced dad. It is hard to bridge the gap from our current situation to what our dream goals are.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
There are so many to count:). But what stands out the most was always celebrating Christmas with my family in England. it’s one of the things I miss most living in the states.
