Hi Maria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Health and wellness has always been a passion of mine, especially as a mother of three who wants the best for my family. A few years ago, I was searching for natural ways to help my son who was dealing with swollen lymph nodes down the back of his neck and congestion from seasonal allergies. At the same time, I was also trying to get a handle on my own fibrocystic breast pain. Both paths led me to learn more about the lymphatic system and its crucial role in overall health. Once I began focusing on improving lymphatic health, I noticed a tremendous difference for both of my son and myself.
Fast forward a year, I was told about Assisted Lymphatic Therapy (ALT) and decided to look into it. The more I learned, the more I began to realize that almost anyone could benefit from ALT. With that in mind, I decided to open up shop and share this amazing therapy with others. I have been amazed at all the different ways people can benefit from having a healthy lymphatic system.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges has been juggling the different roles I hold – business owner, practitioner and mom. Building a client base takes time and patience, and in the beginning I had to really trust the process and believe in myself and believe in the value of what I was offering. Gaining confidence in myself as a new business owner after being a stay at home mom for 16 years was tough at first. Balancing all this with motherhood requires flexibility and organization which has been a challenge I have had to overcome and one that I would not be able to do without the love and support from my husband and kids.
The other biggest hurdle I have faced is properly utilizing social media. I am still learning and growing in this area and I have a long way to go.
