Hi Matthew, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I got started working for my father doing poured concrete. In 2014 I started my own company doing concrete overlays which evolved into epoxy coatings and concrete polishing.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of our biggest struggles is getting customers to understand the difference in quality and price. Customers will jump on a price savings of $0.50-1 an sq Ft without knowing they are sacrificing the quality of materials and prep work. Is that $400 saved worth when their coating fails in a year because they didn’t properly prepare the concrete? About 20% of our work is redoing failed work by others. Now there are plenty of other good companies, but you need to watch out for a lot.
