Today we’d like to introduce you to Misty Lamppa
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Being an athlete all my life, I’ve been interested in health and wellness. After playing college soccer (Go UMD Bulldogs), I pursued a career in corporate health and moved to Boston, MA. After feeling the ceiling of corporate health, I transitioned to commercial health and worked my way doing every position under the sun to club management. During my time on the East Coast, I discovered hot yoga. After moving back to Minnesota and missing hot yoga I pursued a 200 hour YTT. Shortly thereafter I moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and found myself deeply missing hot yoga. After a couple years of living in DL, I opened a yoga studio featuring hot yoga among other yoga styles. During my time managing and owning a studio (and caring for my 4 children), I learned a lot about myself. I felt I had learned so many lessons and had grown so much, but yearned for something deeper. I felt like I was getting so far “on my mat” but wanted a similar feeling “off the mat”. I also had this feeling about working with people in group yoga. There was only so much depth you could help one through on the mat.
Through a lot of inner searching and diving into many paths, the path that was meant for me, found me.
I had hit a real low point in my personal life and was deeply struggling. I had just finished my 500 hour YTT and one of my teachers from that training said something that stuck out to me. I met with her and from there embarked on a 2 year deep dive into myself through the Inner Alignment Program and Facilitator Training.
That was about 4 years ago, and since then I have sold my yoga studio to an incredible woman, and begun working with people in this deep journey into themselves. I am a Sou Retrieval Healer and Inner Alignment Coach, I work full time helping people move through the things that are not working in their life. It’s not therapy, in fact many of our clients have done years of therapy. Therapy often helps them understand their “issues” in the mental body. The work we do helps them heal themselves through somatic soul retrievals, neural rewiring, an intimate safe 8 week container held by 3 practitioner to 1 client where we work with the client every single day. Our goal is to NOT have repeat customer (haha), because we truly believe you have everything you need inside of you to continue your own healing after your program is complete. We are very goal oriented and have a huge success rate for sustained healing, All of our work is via the phone or zoom so we have clients all over the USA and beyond.
Besides this work which currently feels like my life’s work, I teach yoga locally, co-teach a local 200 hour YTT, lead a monthly Soul Song Collective Gathering, and full time mama to my 3 kiddos living at home (one is grown and left the nest).
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I referred to it in the previous question. I have a lot of fire, so I can handle bumpy roads pretty well. The roughest roads for me personally have not been the big things, like financially almost losing a home or losing 75% of my yoga studio business during Covid. The bumpiest parts have been facing my own shadow work. The parts of me I was afraid for others to see and afraid too see within myself. Like realizing sometimes I can cut people out of my life instead of having the hard intimate conversations because that felt safer to me (unconsciously). Or (again unconsciously) using my power position to influence people in a way that serves me selfishly. Yuck that’s hard to face within yourself. The gift of this is when you can accept the WHOLENESS of yourself, you lose the shame and you can work on getting right within yourself/soul/God/Universe etc so you become more aware of those shadows and more often can nip them before you get too off balance.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a solo-preneur (spelling? lol). I call myself a passion-preneur. I couldn’t own just any business. Ive always followed my heart. I’ve never had a 9-5…ever. I’d rather work 75 hours on something I’m passionate about than 40 hours on something that doen’t intrinsically motivate me.
My business could be described at a Wholistic Practice. I offer a signature 8 week healing program (referred to in the first question), USA and global healing/yoga retreats, yoga teacher trainings, and yoga classes.
I want you to know YOU CAN HEAL YOURSELF! You can live a life you’re in LOVE with. You can learn to thrive in relationships. You have EVERYTHING you need within you. YOU ARE YOUR OWN GURU/HEALER/LOVE etc.
What sets me apart from other healing programs? I think because we (your healing team of 3 healers/coaches) work with you every day for 8 weeks. We have tangible results and because we are in touch every day, we help you work your patters, triggers, etc in real time thus changing the way your neural patterns fire and changing your fear responses to make lasting changes. Soul Song empowers you to heal yourself.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I think Duluth, MN is one of the most beautiful cities there is. The majestic Lake Superior, the hiking trails, the wildlife, the clean air. Every view feels more breathtaking than the last. I am so grateful to be back home where I grew up.
The least: the cold 🙂
