Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate & Carmen Maendel.
Hi Nate & Carmen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Nate Maendel began by mowing lawns in his neighborhood at the ripe age of twelve in CO. This progressed and eventually he built and owned his own landscaping company, Greens & Things in from 1993 to 2009. In 2009 Nate moved his family including his wife (Carmen) and new born son (Josh) across country to his old stomping grounds in the Brainerd Lakes Area of MN. Upon the move, he renamed his company to Nate’s Property Maintenance and specialized in tree work and property transformations instead of the landscaping. In 2023, Carmen Maendel came aboard with Nate and they formed an LLC Partnership, Nate’s Property Maintenance LLC moving forward to this present day.
Meanwhile Carmen has owned/co-owned and operated four businesses (Genoa Denim & Leather Apparel, Carmen Mandel Photography, Maendel Fitness Gym & Spa, and Nate’s Property Maintenance LLC) in the last twelve years. Prior to that she was a Stockbroker and Financial Advisor for eight years and Special Education teacher for five years before that. Carmen currently co-owns and operates Nate’s Property Maintenance LLC with her husband as a husband and wife team. Carmen enjoys using the talents and gifting God has given her to compliment her husband with his talents and gifts. They are a husband and wife team, and run a professional and efficient business together with their NPM Team of workers. Carmen handles all business on the home front and Nate coordinates all the intricacies of the tree projects with their clients and NPM Team of Workers on the job sites.
Both Nate and Carmen deeply value the relationships they build with their clients and hold true to their company slogan, “Where Service is More than a Transaction.” They enjoy leaving a job site and having a property be in much better shape and condition than the moment they stepped foot on it. They believe in the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.” and conduct their business with that philosophy and attention to detail. If they make a mistake or a client is not happy, they will make it right! Nate and Carmen enjoy family time boating, hiking, vacationing over seas, and other various outdoor activities during their downtime. They continue to view their business as a service, and value the depth of the relationships they form with their clientele.
Carmen has recently contributed her authorship to multiple anthologies with She Rises Studios and Fenix TV; writing chapters for twelve books last year, and is a debut author with the best selling book, Courageous Woman: Casting Cares Upon Jesus released on September 9, 2025. She also released the Courageous Woman Companion Journal (that is intended to accompany the solo book) on December 17, 2025. Carmen announced on 2/12/2026 the founding and launching of CWG Courageous Woman Global. This is a company, ministry, and website she and her husband will utilize to further their mission of spreading the Gospel to the world. Carmen uses speaking on stages as an opportunity to further spread her message of faith, strength, and purpose to the world, appearing recently at the The Bottega Exchange in Las Vegas, Nevada on 2/22/2026. Carmen and her husband will continue to pray about the direction God is leading them into the future with CWG Courageous Woman Global.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Anyone that tells you that building and scaling a business is a smooth road or process is lying. We have been extremely blessed with both Nate’s Property Maintenance LLC and CWG Courageous Woman Global, however, of course, there have been road blocks and struggles along the way. I think one of the biggest obstacles that Nate and I struggle with is being intentional about carving out family time on an on going basis. God is in the center of all that we do so when there is a struggle, the very first thing we do is “stop and pray.” Sometimes just taking that break to come to our Father in Heaven for advice, guidance, wisdom, and direction will help shed a whole other light on the situation. Regardless of the obstacle, we know that we can always come to God for guidance, comfort, and protection.
Nate occasionally runs into difficulties and struggles on the job site and sometimes he and the team need to take a break and work in out in prayer as well before moving on to the next thing. Realizing that we all need each other, and that this company would not be the same without all of our moving parts gives us the ability to appreciate what each contributes to the overall mission of running this company with honor and integrity while giving reverence to God in the process.
We’ve been impressed with Nate’s Property Maintenance LLC , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
With all that being said, it takes time, a business plan, business strategy, and several different components working together simultaneously to build and scale a company. We have collaborated with different businesses and professionals as we continued to scale our company. We have seen the most tremendous growth in our company within the last three and a half years of owning and operating it together. We have worked with various realtors, ad design specialists, marketing companies, various retailers, business equipment retailers, hardware stores, business equipment rentals, business supply outfits, and the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce as we continued to acquire various pieces of business equipment and broaden our professional network in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
What sets us apart from others is contained in our company slogan, “Where Service is More than a Transaction.”
