Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige St John.
Hi Paige, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career with Worthington Liquor Store in 2012 as a part-time retail clerk. In 2018, I transitioned into a full-time role as assistant manager, and in 2023, I stepped into my current position as manager.
What initially started as a part-time opportunity quickly grew into a true passion and a long-term career. From the beginning, I found great fulfillment in building relationships with customers—getting to know them, understanding their preferences, and helping them find exactly what they were looking for.
I have also developed a strong interest in the industry itself, particularly in learning about different types of products and staying informed on new and emerging items. That enthusiasm has remained with me throughout my career and continues to drive my commitment to both customer service and product knowledge today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, I would say that the it has been a smooth road throughout my time here. There are challenges, but that’s what keeps us on our toes and keeps us thinking.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Worthington Liquor Store is proudly city-owned, and what many people may not realize is that 100% of our profits are reinvested directly back into the community. That mission is at the heart of everything we do.
We take pride in offering a broad and thoughtfully curated selection of wine, liquor, beer, and now THC products, creating a true one-stop shop for our customers. Our goal is to ensure that residents can find everything they’re looking for locally, without needing to travel to larger markets.
Staying current is also a priority for us. We actively follow industry trends and seek out new and emerging products so that when customers come in asking for something new, it’s already on our shelves. We also engage with our customers through social media, sharing content that highlights our products, new arrivals, and relevant trends in an informative and approachable way.
Beyond our retail offerings, Worthington Liquor Store values being an active part of the community. We enjoy participating in local events and hosting our own, including fundraisers, tastings, and wine dinners that bring people together and support meaningful causes.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
The risks that Worthington Liquor Store takes are usually just the risk of bringing in new items in hopes that they will sell. We believe that if a product is marketed right, they will do great.
