Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Robinson.
Xavier, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always loved sports. Growing up in Rochester, Minnesota, I played just about every sport you can think of—football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, golf… if it involved competition, I was in. But what really hooked me wasn’t just the games themselves—it was the training. I started to notice how strength training and conditioning made me better at everything. Faster. Stronger. More confident. That’s when I realized: I didn’t just love sports—I loved the science behind performance.
That passion led me to study kinesiology at the University of Minnesota. Like a lot of people, I went into it thinking more was better. More gym time, more sets, more hustle. I was doing all the traditional stuff like split routines, long workouts, chasing fatigue. But the deeper I got into the research, the more I realized the science told a different story. I was reading studies that showed you could get better results with less time—if the workouts were done with the right intensity and structure. That was a huge turning point for me.
After college, I landed a job at Discover Strength, a studio that only hires exercise physiologists. It was a perfect fit. I got to work alongside other professionals who valued science over trends, and I had the chance to coach hundreds of clients using evidence-based training methods. It was during this time that I really sharpened my skills not just as a coach, but as someone who could connect with people, build trust, and help them get results without wasting their time.
Then the pandemic hit.
Like a lot of trainers and gyms, the company had to pivot quickly. So we went 100% virtual basically overnight. And what happened shocked was awesome. Clients were still making incredible progress at home. No fancy equipment. No gym atmosphere. Just simple tools, consistent coaching, and a plan that worked. That was when I realized I realized that I didn’t need a gyms I had stumbled upon a better system. Something that prioritized science, efficiency, and real connection.
Two years later in 2022 I started Reformed Fitness.
I wanted to build something that made high-quality, evidence-based training accessible to busy professionals no matter where they are or when they have time for a workout. At Reformed Fitness, we offer personalized 30-minute virtual workouts, twice a week. That’s it. No fluff, no fads. Just workouts that are backed by research and delivered by coaches who know what they’re doing. We also offer health coaching to help people stay consistent and supported in their day-to-day routines and make real sustainable progress on their fat loss goals.
What started as a response to the pandemic has turned into a full-on mission. Today, I lead a growing team of exercise physiologists who are just as passionate about helping people build strength and confidence as I am. Our goal isn’t to be the biggest fitness company it’s really to be the most trusted. We want to change the way people think about exercise by showing them that simple, science-backed workouts can fit into even the busiest lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road. I don’t think anyone who builds something from scratch would ever say it’s been easy. Every step of the way there’s been some kind of challenge.
When I first started Reformed Fitness, I was working a second job as a server. During the day, I was coaching clients, building the business, trying to get the word out, handling sales, doing admin work literally every role in the company was just me. Then at night and on weekends, I’d throw on the apron and serve tables. It was exhausting, but I believed in what I was building.
There were definitely moments where it felt like too much. I’d finish a shift, come home after midnight, and be up early the next day to train clients or write programming. But the thing that kept me going was the growth. Even if it was small, every single month the business moved forward. More clients, better systems, more clarity. That momentum gave me the motivation to keep grinding. I knew that if I stayed consistent and stuck to the mission of bringing high-quality, science-based training to busy people who really needed it.
Looking back, those long days and late nights taught me a lot. They solidified my value of sacrifice and hard work. And they made me appreciate the growth even more.
We’ve been impressed with Reformed Fitness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Reformed Fitness is an online personal training and health coaching company built for people who are busy but still want real results. We specialize in 1-on-1 virtual strength training and personalized coaching that helps high-achieving professionals, lose fat, build strength, and stay consistent without spending hours in the gym or following some trendy new fitness plan.
What makes us different really comes down to three things: we’re evidence-based, personalized, and efficient.
Our workouts are grounded in science not hype. Every coach on our team has a four-year degree in exercise science and advanced certifications like ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist. This isn’t a side hustle for us. We don’t just like exercise we’ve spent years studying it, testing it, and applying it. So when we say you only need two 30-minute strength workouts per week, it’s because that’s what the research actually supports. And we’ve seen it work time and time again.
But we also know that science means nothing if it doesn’t fit your life. That’s where personalization comes in. Every workout is tailored to the individual your schedule, your goals, your limitations, and your equipment. We’re with you every step of the way, coaching you through each rep in real time, keeping you safe, pushing you when needed, and helping you stay consistent.
And because our workouts are short and virtual, they’re incredibly efficient. You don’t have to commute, rearrange your whole day, or figure out how to “fit it all in.” You just show up, put in the effort, and get back to your life. That’s one of the things we hear most from clients. Reformed Fitness makes it easy to stay consistent, even with everything else they’re juggling.
What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is that we’ve built something that actually works for real people with real lives. We’ve had clients say things like, “I’ve never stuck with anything this long,” or “I finally feel like myself again.” That’s huge. We’re not just selling workouts we’re helping people reclaim their energy, their strength, and their confidence.
So if you’re someone who’s tired of the fitness industry’s fluff and noise, and you’re looking for something that’s backed by science, led by professionals, and fits into your actual life… that’s exactly what we do.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I had to pick one quality that’s been most important to my success, it’s this: I’m constantly working to get better. I don’t blame the market. I don’t blame the clients. If something’s not working, I take a step back and ask, “Where do I need to grow?”
Sometimes that means I need to improve my own skillset whether that’s becoming a better coach, a better communicator, or a better leader. Other times, it means I need to tighten up the systems and processes behind the scenes so things run more smoothly and efficiently. Either way, I put the responsibility on myself.
That mindset has shaped everything I’ve done with Reformed Fitness. It’s why I’ve spent years studying the science of exercise not just following trends or doing what everyone else in the industry is doing. It’s also why our team of exercise physiologists are held to a high standard.
And honestly, I think that mindset is what’s helped Reformed Fitness stand out. We’re not trying to be flashy. We’re just relentlessly focused on improving our coaching, our client experience, our content, our systems.
