Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Carolina Nunez Bussolini of Woodbury

Carolina Nunez Bussolini shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Carolina, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes. Recently, I installed a large collection of my artworks in a new exhibition space and had the chance to see strangers interacting with them—pausing, leaning in, taking their time. There was a moment when someone told me that one of my paintings “felt like breathing.” That made me smile deeply and feel proud.
I paint from a very emotional and intuitive place, so any time my work creates a connection, even a quiet one, I feel like my purpose is being honored.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
. My name is Carolina Nuñez Bussolini. I am a visual artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently based in Minnesota. My work is rooted in abstraction and inspired by emotion, memory, color, and movement. I explore different materials such as acrylics, inks, metallic tones, glitter, pouring techniques, and sometimes textiles.
What makes my work unique is that I don’t separate art from life. I paint from intuition—from the inner landscapes of feeling—and I allow each piece to guide me. Over time, my art has expanded beyond the canvas: I transform my paintings into wearable art, including silk scarves, clothing, swimwear, and accessories. For me, art can be lived, touched, and carried with us.
My work has been exhibited internationally, including in Art Shopping at Le Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, and I was recognized as the only Argentine finalist at the Global Art Awards 2018 in Dubai. I have collaborated on cultural projects with companies such as 3M and Ecolab for Hispanic Heritage Month, and my silk scarves have been presented in stores including the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
I continue to create and expand my artistic universe—painting, designing, and exploring new forms of expression—always guided by color, energy, and emotion.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The biggest shift happened when I moved from Argentina to the United States. I had to rebuild my artistic life from zero—new language, new community, new opportunities. It required courage, patience, and resilience.
That experience taught me that identity is not tied to a place. We carry our essence with us.
It reminded me that art is universal; you can communicate without words. Color is a language, emotion is a language. That changed how I approach everything—not only my work, but how I connect with others.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her: “Your sensitivity is your strength. Never hide it.”
For a long time I felt everything very deeply, and I didn’t always see that as something valuable. Now I understand that this is exactly what allows me to create, to connect and to live fully.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to sharing art in ways that touch people emotionally and energetically.
This includes not only exhibitions, but also my vision of expanding art into clothing, design, interior spaces, and everyday life. I believe art should be lived, not only observed.
No matter how long it takes, I will keep building that bridge—between art and life—piece by piece.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
When I am painting.
Especially in the moments when the music blends with the brush, when I lose the sense of time, and I feel like I am simply channeling, not thinking.
Those are the moments when everything aligns—my mind, my body, my spirit—and I am just present.
That is peace for me.
