We recently had the chance to connect with Halle Riveness and have shared our conversation below.
Halle, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I usually start my day with going to crossfit or going for a 1-2 mile walk while listening to an audiobook, I like to start my day with movement as it keeps me focused and get’s me motivated for the day while also getting me outside and moving.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Halle, the photographer behind Lulle Photo & Film and the founder of Take Your Shot Collective. At Lulle, my husband Luke and I work together as a wedding photography and videography team. I focus on capturing the candid, in-between moments that tell the real story of a wedding day, while Luke brings those memories to life through film. Together, we create a seamless experience that allows our couples to be fully present, knowing their memories will be preserved in a way that still feels alive decades from now.
Beyond photographing weddings, I also run Take Your Shot Collective, a community and coaching space for photographers and creative entrepreneurs. It’s a space where I teach the business and strategy side of running a successful creative business—helping others get booked, grow sustainably, and create the life they actually want to live.
Both sides of what I do come from the same heart: relationships, storytelling, and empowering people to feel confident in their story—whether that’s on their wedding day or in their business.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
When I was a kid, I was the one in elementary school who would include and stand up for those who were typically rejected. I went out of my way to play with the two girls in my class who had down syndrome and I found value in having a friendship with them. Through being their friend, they gained confidence and started making even more friends. Sometimes I’d be bullied or picked on for playing with them, but I didn’t care what others thought. I’ve always had strong values and wanted to see others built up.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There are countless times I’ve wanted to give up, usually it stems from feeling overwhelmed and not giving myself enough grace. Comparing myself to others and letting that take away the joy and appreciation for how far I’ve actually come. When I went full-time with wedding photography, it was so challenging and isolating. Building community and having systems in place and building in a routine that incorporates rest and creativity has truly helped me thrive.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Faith is being sure of what you hope for, but certain of what you cannot see. I’ve always been a person of faith, even from a young age. I’ve had so many encounters with God and know that I wouldn’t be here without my faith. I think in todays day and world, it’s hard to prove to anyone the existence of God. Especially with so many christians claiming faith but then living out and having worldviews that are quite opposite of Jesus’ teachings.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
Outdoors and usually by a lake or some body of water. I love spending time being active and hiking or going for long walks. I also love running and biking, honestly anything outdoors and just being in nature gives me so much peace.
