Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jennifer Marie of Minneapolis

Jennifer Marie shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Hosting “The Creative Reset” this coming January will be and has been one of the most meaningful experiences for me recently. I’ve felt incredibly proud watching an idea rooted in connection and encouragement turn into a real space for women to pause, reflect, and reset together. Seeing women from different backgrounds show interest — creatives, moms, entrepreneurs, and those simply craving space for themselves — has been deeply affirming.

There have also been moments that made me laugh, like juggling logistics, wearing ten different hats, and realizing how much trust and teamwork it takes to bring something like this to life. It’s been a beautiful reminder that growth doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Jennifer Marie — an independent singer-songwriter and pianist creating piano-driven soul and pop music rooted in storytelling and emotional honesty. After stepping away from music for over a decade to raise my family and build a corporate career, I returned to songwriting with a renewed sense of purpose and perspective. My work reflects themes of resilience, growth, and the courage it takes to start again.

Beyond music, I’m passionate about building meaningful community for women. This January, I’m hosting The Creative Reset, an intentional event designed to give women space to pause, reconnect, and feel inspired — whether they identify as creatives or simply need a reset. At the heart of everything I do is connection: through music, storytelling, and shared experiences that remind people they’re not alone and it’s never too late to choose yourself.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I’m releasing the version of myself that felt guilty for wanting more — more creativity, more fulfillment, more space to dream. That guilt kept me small for a long time, even though it came from a place of love and responsibility.

That part of me did its job, but it no longer gets to lead. I’m choosing to move forward with permission instead of apology.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. There were seasons where choosing stability, family, and responsibility meant quietly setting my dream aside. I told myself I had missed my window — that maybe this wasn’t meant for me anymore.

What changed was realizing that dreams don’t expire. Returning to music wasn’t a rejection of that earlier choice — it was an evolution of it.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes — the public version of me is real, but it’s not the whole picture. What people see is the version of me that’s processed things enough to share them. I’m thoughtful about what I put into the world, but it’s always rooted in truth.

Offstage and offline, I’m quieter, reflective, and deeply present with my family. The core values are the same — honesty, connection, and heart — even if the settings look different.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I gave women permission — permission to pause, to dream again, and to believe it’s never too late. Whether through my music or “The Creative Reset”, I want to be remembered as someone who created safe spaces for reflection, growth, and connection, and who reminded others that their voice and story mattered.
