Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Sally Bisbee of Minneapolis

We recently had the chance to connect with Sally Bisbee and have shared our conversation below.

Sally, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am most proud of building a life that works for me and my family the way it works for us and not by anyone else’s rules. My goal as an entrepreneur isn’t to become a millionaire, it’s to create a life I love and am excited to wake up for everyday. A life where my kids and family are first, while I still get to chase after my dreams outside of motherhood. A life where my kids get to watch me chase after my own dreams, all while still being a present mom and not missing any of the moments that matter. A life where I am truly happy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Sally, owner of Simply Sally Creations and Simply Sally Organizing. I’ve been an entrepreneur for 12 years and absolutely love it! I started my custom craft business 12 years ago as a way to make gifts for family and friends. It started growing slowly and has rapidly expanded recently. I make custom apparel, items with business logos, birthday shirts, cups, signs, and so much more. Basically anything you can add words too. Everything I make is 100% custom made just for you. You simply send me a message with your idea and I make it come to life. Simply Sally Organizing came to be from my lifelong love of organizing. It truly makes me so happy. I love helping people declutter and organize their homes, all while giving them back their space and peace.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
Being raised by an entrepreneur had a huge impact on me. My dad has been an entrepreneur his whole life, owning a very successful photography business. Getting to see first hand how hard and how rewarding being an entrepreneur is has definitely set me up for success. It isn’t easy and takes a lot of work and a lot of time, but it’s so worth it. It really is true what they say that when you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
This past year has been 1 giant experiment. After 8 1/2 years running an in home daycare, I retired in the fall of 2024 and set out on some new endeavors. I had already owned my craft business for many years, which continues to grow through repeat customers and word of mouth. And I decided to start not 1, but 2 more new businesses, for a total of 3 businesses. And while all 3 were things I was passionate about, I was spread way too thin, not allowing myself to go all in on any of them. It pushed me to the point of almost giving up on all of it. But instead of giving up, I did some recalibrating and decided to put 1 business on pause, while I pour into the other 2. It’s exciting and liberating all at once and I can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would let you know that when I put my mind to something, I make it happen. They’d also tell you I’m the most organized person you know…lol. And that my family is the most important thing to me and always comes first. But that I’m not afraid to chase after my dream.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when everything is organized, I have a plan, and I’m doing something I truly love. My life goal is to simplify everything, freeing up time and energy to pour into the things that matter most to me…my family, my faith, my friends, and my businesses.
