Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Moat.
Hi Ali, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I actually started going to college straight out of high school. I was in school at Mankato for 3 years when I decided I wasn’t passionate about the route I was taking. That’s when I decided to go to Regency Beauty School – I met my now manager at our job fair and toured Coles Salon the following week. The second I stepped into Coles Salon I knew that was where I was meant to be. I have been at Coles Salon for 7 years now and I wouldn’t change a thing. 🙂
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There is always room to improve and grow in this industry. I would say one of my biggest struggles has been just not taking everything so personal, but every challenge has made me a better stylist. Also, Color techniques and trends have changed and are continuing to change FAST. So it can be challenging to learn new techniques but also so rewarding and fun.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do hair coloring, hair extensions and hair cuts. I specialize in customized colors like balayage, and artistry colors. I customize every single color to the guest, they are always tailored to the guests needs + wants. I am proud of the unique experience I give each guest, and the continued advanced education I continue to do.
I won a balayage contest a couple years ago, and was flown out to Atlanta to shadow the incredible Candy Shaw!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest piece of advice would be to always continue to learn and push yourself. And most importantly, to always remember to fill your own cup and remember to take care of yourself too! Sometimes we get so carried away in taking care of others, we forget about ourselves.
