Life & Work with Ally Sheehan of Rochester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ally Sheehan.

Hi Ally, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I was born in Illinois, where I grew up loving to create things and be outside as much as possible. Being outside has always been my happy place. I went and spent my summers up at a Summer Camp in Northern Wisconsin, where I put my wilderness tripping skills to the test! I ended my camper days with a 24-day backpacking trip out to Montana that changed my life path for the better. I went to school in Eastern Illinois, where I studied Recreation Administration. That led to me living and working full time at that same Camp in Northern Wisconsin, where I was a camper. I spent seven years as the Summer Camp Program Director. It was time for a change of scenery that led me to Rochester, MN. Back in 2015, in Southern Illinois, I fell in love with taking pictures of flowers during my internship! That lead to me falling in love with taking pictures of details and scenery and all things nature. I have always been an outside girl, and my pictures help me capture those moments. My small business is sharing my photos with others in the form of stationery. I take my photos, turn them into cards, and sell them on my Facebook page. Along with other crafty items that I find myself creating.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having your own business has its ups and downs! It takes time, dedication, and passion for keeping going! There are times when others are interested in my cards/crafts, and then there are times when you can post all the items and no orders come through. There are times when I will be full force sharing my cards with others, and other months I am so busy enjoying life and exploring that I don’t make the time to make it happen.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
– Nature/detail/scenery photo stationery
– Woodchip Earrings
– Scout and Cellar Wine Consultant
– Crafty human
I love to stop by and take photos of different things! You can catch me with my camera or phone, taking photos of random things while exploring the place I am in!

What’s next?
I look forward to selling my crafts at a store or a craft fair with my booth! I would love to have my booth that I can take to craft fairs! I need to take the leap and make it happen! I will continue to make earrings and cards.

Pricing:

  • Woodchip Earrings – $20 each
  • Cards – $10 – $30 depending on how many cards are in the set
