The Origins of Local Legends
Local Legends began with a simple idea: we should play more Dungeons & Dragons and other RPGs. But like many aspiring adventurers, we faced a common challenge—finding a group, and more importantly, a Dungeon Master. Instead of letting that stop us, Andrew, the founder of Local Legends, took matters into his own hands and started hosting sessions at his house.
What began as a few small home games quickly grew into something bigger. As more players expressed interest, it became clear that there was a real need for accessible, well-run RPG sessions.
As the community continued to expand, an incredible opportunity arose—a partnership with The Fox Den Board Game Café. This collaboration provided the perfect space for hosting sessions, creating an environment where players could immerse themselves in unforgettable adventures while enjoying a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
With a thriving player base and a growing reputation, Local Legends was finally able to bring on additional Dungeon Masters, allowing even more games, stories, and worlds to come to life. Today, we continue to provide high-quality one-shot sessions and long-term campaigns, all at an affordable price, with funds reinvested into crafting detailed terrain, models, and props to enhance the tabletop experience.
What started as a small idea has transformed into a passionate community of storytellers and adventurers. And with each new session, the legend continues to grow! 🎲✨
At Local Legends, our Game Masters (GMs) are the architects of adventure, the storytellers of fate, and the keepers of worlds waiting to be explored. Whether you seek daring combat, rich roleplay, or mind-bending puzzles, our GMs craft experiences that bring legendary tales to life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has definitely had its rough patches. In the beginning, we tried operating out of our own brick-and-mortar space, but it proved difficult to keep the doors open without a larger initial following. Looking back, leaving that space was the best thing that could have happened to us. We shifted our focus to bringing the adventure directly to the players—hosting sessions at local board game cafes and right in people’s living rooms. It allowed us to forge incredibly strong, genuine relationships within the local gaming scene, and that community connection has become the cornerstone of everything we do.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Professionally, I am a quality control professional and technical specialist who manages a dedicated team of four. In my day-to-day work, I oversee manufacturing processes, shipping operations, and technical documentation.
### What I Do & My Specialization
I specialize in high-precision inspection systems, which includes programming Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Vision systems. My technical focus involves inspecting intricate parts, maintaining advanced Keyence systems, and utilizing industry-standard programming tools like QC GaugeStation and QC CALC to ensure rigorous standards are met.
### What Sets Me Apart & What I’m Proud Of
What truly sets me apart is my ability to bridge the gap between highly technical execution and community-driven leadership. On the professional side, I am incredibly proud of leading successful departmental reorganizations, optimizing vendor coordination, and building a highly efficient quality control team.
Outside of my manufacturing career, I apply that same leadership, organization, and passion to the tabletop gaming world. I am the founder and lead organizer of **Local Legends MN**, a professional gaming venture and tabletop community that I have grown from the ground up. Over the past three years, we have partnered with The Fox Den Board Game Cafe to create an affordable, high-quality space for players to connect. We’ve scaled from hosting just a few simple one-shots a month to a massive operation running nine active campaigns simultaneously alongside custom Warhammer 40,000 leagues.
Whether I am programming a precision inspection system to ensure manufacturing excellence or designing a 23-session custom campaign gauntlet for my community, I pride myself on deep technical execution, strong leadership, and bringing people together.

My Wife: She is the absolute backbone of our public outreach, handling all of our social media marketing and managing our Discord posts. Her work keeps the community informed, engaged, and growing every single week.
Our Passionate GMs: The talented Dungeon Masters and Game Masters we hire—including Katya (@kcoranges) and Comic (Johnlee Garcia)—play a massive role in our success. They step in to run the epic one-shots and campaigns that I can’t get to, bringing their own unique storytelling styles, voice acting, and incredible dedication to the table so we can keep 9 active campaigns running smoothly.
The Fox Den Board Game Cafe: As our long-term venue partner for the past three years, they have provided the perfect “Home of the Legends,” giving us a dedicated space, private rooms, and a welcoming environment to host our community and wargaming leagues.
