Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Petersen Randall.
Hi Beth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always had a passion for homes, design, solving problems and helping others. I focused my degrees on Sociology and Interior Design and while I’m not specifically working in these fields, I use the skills I learned from them every day.
While living in Florida during the 90’s I got my real estate license and sold part-time. When I moved home to Minnesota in 2001 I worked in the family mortgage business and also got my Minnesota real estate license. During the housing crash of 07/08 I took a step back and got out of the business altogether, there was not much joy or celebration in the business during that time. Fast forward to 2013 when my boyfriend (at the time) and I were building our dream home, the spark and passion for real estate came flooding back and I returned to the business and have not looked back.
In 2020 I started my team The BPR Experience with a tagline of “Real Estate, Only Better™” and every person or family the team serves is our reminder of having the client say wow, that was better than any other experience I have had before. It’s the ultimate driving force of why we do what we do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth along the way, around the time the market crashed in 07/08 I was in mortgages as my full-time job and sold real estate part-time and the two went hand in hand. As the market was crashing it was like watching a car crash in slow motion. My boss called me one day and said “Beth your product line with the bank is being discontinued because its too risky and I do not have a severance package to offer you” As weird as it sounds, I was relieved when I got off the phone and I had no idea how I was going to pay my bills. I ended up doing a short-sale on my home and did a voluntary repossession of my car which means I drove my car to the dealership, handed it over with the keys and said here you go!
I sold my home for far less than it had been worth and I got busy fixing my credit. Fixing my credit was the easy part, doing the inner work of fixing my worthiness and self-confidence took years of therapy.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I sell real estate and run a real estate team in the Twin Cities area. We pride ourselves on being a referral-based business and have clients where we help everyone in a family from the parents to grandparents and kids buy and sell properties including investment properties. It’s all about building generational wealth and using real estate as a tool not just a roof over your head. We make deep connections through client events, pop-bys, weekly emails, connecting on social media and so much more – it’s a combination of old and new school forms of marketing.
A big shift we have seen in the last couple of years is past clients reaching out asking for help to sell parents’ and grand parents’ homes as they transition to senior or assisted living. This is always a BIG task to empty a home filled with decades of personal effects. This is a stage of life that requires patience, great resources and vendors and a compassionate heart knowing what a huge life transition this is…for everyone involved.
Four years ago, my marketing director, Kristi, and I started a podcast called Girl, Get Your Face Off a Bus Bench. It’s geared towards women entrepreneurs who are looking for a seat at the table and a space to feel seen and heard. We consistently rank in the top five on iTunes in the real estate marketing category, and for this, I’m extremely proud.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans involve my husband, who retired from law enforcement to join me in my business so stay tuned for more on this in the coming months. I’m also looking forward to more speaking engagements and opportunities to educate and help other Realtors become the best versions of themselves. My BIG WHY in life is to create a bigger life for myself and those around me and I won’t stop until more lives have been impacted!
