Life & Work with Brian Jeremiason

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Jeremiason.

Hi Brian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always enjoyed making images. I got started at a young age, hanging out in the darkroom at the newspaper my grandfather owned.

I’ve always loved to use pictures to tell a story. My sister, Marcy, also caught the photography bug and pursued a degree in photography. I spent several years helping her with weddings as her second shooter. At the same time, I was taking online courses, upgrading my equipment, and practicing every chance I had. As my family got older and my sister started her family, our roles reversed and I began running most of our weddings.

In 2014, I took a leap and started Jeremiason Photography. Around this time, I was approached by the local community newspaper, The Minneota Mascot, and began photographing sports for the paper. This led to growth with senior photography, team photos, and other opportunities.

During the 2020 pandemic, I wasn’t able to do photo sessions but was able to use the free time to work on improving my skills and diversified my business by getting into printing services, offering signs, banners, books, and other products I hadn’t been able to offer before.

We now offer a wide range of photography and printing services. From digitals to large banners, canvas prints to window clings, metal and glass prints to leather-bound albums. Our mission is to capture memories in moments that you’ll treasure forever.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with some great partners and clients over the years. In most cases, the people I’m able to shoot become friends. I’ve been around long enough that I’ve now shot senior sessions, weddings, and maternity photos for some of the same people. Being trusted with capturing those memories is an honor and quite humbling.

It hasn’t always been easy – technology evolves and sometimes technology fails. I’ve improved my systems recently to provide redundancy to my equipment and my storage services.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m probably most known for my sports photos.

That’s what I fill a lot of my “free time” with. It provides a lot of content for my social media and allows me to connect with a younger generation. I’ve been fortunate enough to cover some great, championship seasons and have earned 5 Minnesota Newspaper Association awards for Photo of the Year in various categories.

My fiance Amy and I have also started a new venture. Travel and landscape photography have always been something we’ve enjoyed. We’ve opened a shop to sell cards, prints, books, postcards, and other products online.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m always looking for a new adventure. I love traveling around Minnesota and beyond and would love to collaborate on any projects anyone would like to bring to life.
