Today we’d like to introduce you to ColorwaySoSick
Hi ColorwaySoSick , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My artistic journey started young. As a child, I was always into the arts and intrigued with bringing my ideas to life. My attention was always focused on vibrant shapes and characters that I would become inspired by, leaving me excited to make art of my own. As I’ve grown older, I’ve become more consistent and intentional of the way I approach my creativity. The mediums I have always enjoyed most are drawing and painting. As of the last few years I have taken a deeper dive into my painting skills, as I also enjoy customizing shoes and large canvases. As a custom designer it’s always liberating being able to wear your own art and seeing real time reactions out in the public. The positive reception from the community and my peers keeps me excited to start my next project.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The creative journey is not always easy, as I can also go through periods of being uninspired or even getting ‘artist block’ . Through these times I like to take a temporary break from creating to keep my love for the art making process genuine and not forced.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Today I am an Artist, Designer and Collaborator. I find joy in completing a canvas or bringing someone’s shoes to life with my designs. It’s greatly reassuring when clients are confident with my direction and let me express freely with my ideas. One of my goals are to continue collaborative events and projects with other artists in my community. I am proud of my ability to deliver quality work consistently, making artwork that is unique to what my city has seen and appreciated.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Most of my time creating I am listening to music and just vibing out. I grew up in a very music loving family, with it always playing in our home. I am very appreciative of the rap and r&b culture and how they have influenced my creative process.
