Life & Work with David Gutierrez Molina

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Gutierrez Molina.

Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My beginnings in the world of dance and flamenco were when I was 4 years old, in my professional career I learned from great dance masters who have made me the artist that I am today,, they tried to show the world my art, always with humility and empathy, thanks to them the successes in my career came unexpectedly.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In my professional career, I lived wonderful moments, but also very hard. The worst moment was an injury that took me away from the stage for 2 years, and I even considered giving up dancing completely. Thanks to my effort and perseverance, I have always been able to fight hard.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a flamenco dancer, I am recognized for my successes by the best theaters in the world, thanks to this the press and governments have recognized me as one of the dancers of the moment. I currently feel very fortunate to direct the company from the city of Barcelona, with which it has positioned itself as one of the reference dance companies in Spain.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I am accompanied at the Barcelona Flamenco Ballet by a great team of more than 25 people, whose success would not be possible without any of them. I would like to mention Paula Reyes, she is the woman who accompanies me in my life, and she is currently the deputy director of the company.
