Life & Work with Eddie Cole of Minneapolis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Cole

Hi Eddie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started getting into fashion and arts when I was in 3rd grade. I would draw mockups and clothing designs in a notebook. When I got to middle school I got into graphics so I started digitizing my designs and putting it on clothing in photoshop. My biggest inspiration was colors and styles [trends]—I always had an eye for art and fashion. I liked the similarities and differences between the two. Reminded me of myself. One of my biggest inspo was the late Virgil. I loved how he mastered the art & fashion of the creative industry and how he strived as well. Also, my African background inspired me, and different places and cultures have different styles. I was blessed to be able to experience the best of both worlds. My creative history goes back to early 2015 when I started out with Visionary Clothing Co. with my co-founder Elijah Barlue. The brand’s early success and unique inspiration for other creatives were amazing to see as two young creatives. A couple of years later, we branched off and I started my streetwear brand “Loyalty Out Values Everything” aka L.O.V.E. The Brand during the pandemic. The brand was stamped as a moral of life and had a place in street fashion. Opportunities came upon working on the brand I was featured in Houston Fashion Week. The next for me is going major and hopefully landing endorsements or even high-scale clients or organizations. Whether that be landing a personal stylist career, a photographer, or even a brand ambassador. COLE stands for the difference between unique and common, it is built off my family’s name and intended to have a legacy of its own. A brand and person built off love and loyalty by creating different ways to show it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Certainly, being a creative individual comes with its own set of challenges. Doubting my abilities and the quality of my work was a common challenge. It hinder my creativity and prevented me from taking risks or sharing my creations with others. I also had some challenges with creative blocks. Throughout my journey criticism was something I had to navigate through even rejection but I always had in mind the I would prosper. The most bumps I faced on my creative road was comparison to others because I strived to be the most original version of myself and I wanted my work to represent that.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Creative Director and I specialize in Styling, Photography and Fashion Designing. So far working my way in he industry I would say I’m more known for my photography and clothing brand. I’m most proud of all of my creations because they all come the heart and soul. Something that sets me apart from others is my ability to adapt and also equip myself with skills sets in both fashion and art. My creative thought process is also very consisent and true to who I am.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
